1. I love what you're doing here. 2. She's a heavy one. 96v might be in order.

Sweet build outcomes going to be well worth it! another option you "could" test it with the 52v battery that's already on it just lower your lack voltage to 40 followed by lowering your current limiting voltage to 45 on the salvation MQCON app, basically setting the cutoff voltage for the 52v battery any hoot just a suggestion hope the build tuns out awesome!
@MrCentralDriver
@MrCentralDriver Жыл бұрын
yeah technically could do that! i have already hooked up a 72v battery and it runs and its fast but i was testing without a helmet and only able to pull 55amps. feels good and quiet :)

Hi you do have a problem I'm the same sometimes wheni have an idea. It's good when that happens you no you are going to succeed like a budgie with no beek. It's called improvise it makes the job harder but most rewarding when it's finished I've got every confidence in you to do a good job. Can't wait for next video and see it running. Just a thought if your frame is made of metal put a jack between the drop out and open very slightly about half an inch and leave over Knight. It will spring back but at motor wire side try to wedge open with a thick screw driver wrapped in a cloth to open drop out get a washer and cut it of end to the size of spindle then tap it in that will give you a good gap fro motor wires. If you catch them well it's going to be curtains better to safe then sorry just a thought I've done that in mine and my frame is aluminium and that was two years back have no problem

I am not very sure if it's necessary for this bike but from what I know, when you install such a powerful motor it's recommended to also install a torque arm to protect the frame. I saw some ebikes that had this problem. Because of the torque the motor spin in the bike frame and broke it. Hope it will not happening with your bike. Good luck with your project!

Very cool, I may end up doing this also. Going to build a 72V Super 73 clone, some parts on order now. This seems like it will be a great upgrade though. Curious to see how the stock lights and brake cut offs work, and if you try to wire those using the stock connectors.

Also, might be nice to change the front wheel to spokes just to match visually, lol.

Just a thought but couldn't you use a car jack to spread out the frame a tiny bit? Then you can get those washers in and have extra space?

Ya I don't like going over 32 on my bike rev1 a heavier bike I think though. Me I'd lock it at 35. The only reason I want to go with a much higher Watt motor is I have a cart it's 100 pounds with all my equipment. I am thinking of building a much much larger cart/trailer and would like 450 pounds on a load so I would need a stronger motor to get me up the hills I have here as I currently have 750w one of the big hills I go 6mph up it and a few others 12mph. 450 pounds is quite a bit I need more torque. 😊 I'm still not 100% sure exactly how I am going to do this new cart but I want breaks and lights on it for sure kind of want motors, but might pass on doing that especially at first and test with a stronger bike motor first. Probably not 5kw though 2500-3kw probably be good enough.

What was the whole story with the chain being too tight? What was the correct length, number or links etc? I was wondering if I could buy one with the correct specs online. Ideally gold.
@MrCentralDriver
@MrCentralDriver 11 ай бұрын
you lose the derailer when u do this motor swap and that means you have to make the chain the correct length. problem is its either to tight or too loose. when the rear suspension moves and the chain is to tight, it will pull on it and snap or or bust your rear sprocket which happened to me and it locked up and spun loose until it jammed into the frame.

Did you consider going with the phase runner controller?
@EBikeBuilder_
@EBikeBuilder_ Жыл бұрын
Phaserunner can do 55amps continuous, 90 max phase amps. Can’t quite do 5kw on 72v, more like 4kw. That sabvoton 100 is twice the current of a phaserunner.
@MrCentralDriver
@MrCentralDriver Жыл бұрын
the rear motor doesn't use the phaserunner connection unfortunately

Too bad you can't keep the OEM rear alloy wheel. The spoke wheel doesn't look good and will be prone to failure with all the additional torque. Is there any way to just swap motors?

hey bud, can you do me a favor when you have a minute. Can you tell me if your triangle battery fits in the Revv 1 storage case or not. The battery is advertised with a height of 235mm and the cage says 227mm and I'm wondering if it will fit if angled properly etc. Thanks and can't wait to see this 72v upgrade journey :)

5mm wider on that frame doesn't look like it would be much of a problem. You know they make this thing called a pry bar, oh if I was you I wouldn't trust the dropouts with a 5k motor in them without doing something to add some more support in the dropouts to stop them from ripping up the dropout holes from spinning. With the way you ride, it wouldn't take long to have problems with spinning the dropout holes. If that frame is Aluminum I would find dropout supports to tie somewhere into the frame for more support. 750 to 5K what could go wrong?

@@MrCentralDriver Have you ever tried hanging your bike from the roof? When I work on my long recumbent bike that has two motors and a ton of things on the bars that take forever to remove to turn the bike upside down to work on it, I just hang it off the floor with some ropes and use a floor jack to raise the wheels into place. I have never dropped the bike and it takes far less time to do the wheel work that is needed to be done. I go thru tires like water as they are 20'' wheels and I can do 50+ on the thing. Work smarter, not harder. I have the back wheel as 2500w NB 72v on this bike it's been good so far and I haven't been too nice to it at all.

I have a lot of questions also...switching out a motor on one of these bikes. So far seems like you have to pretty much toss the entire rim and go with something else. Shame you can't just swap out the motor on those solid rims. I'd rather just get the motor and rim and cut my own spokes and build the wheel myself. Any input bud? Haven't watched the entire vid or part two yet so feel free to forgive me if I missed something. Thanks. (òÓ,)_\,,/
