After riding the roadster for a few months, I can tell you that the range is very limited. I have not yet been able to squeeze 20 miles out of the battery. I even turn off the assist whenever I can, but never on any sort of incline. I'm in decent shape and have had a very hard time pedaling the bike after losing power. I just installed the add on battery ($375.00) and I'm hoping to be able to get 35 miles total out of the two combined. I also made a mistake by purchasing the larger frame size and now I don't have clearance for a suspension seat post. As for people who are concerned about the class 3 rating, just get a class 2 sticker and keep the speed down to where it should be.

Glad the first impression was positive. I have a Ride1Up Core-5 behind me that's mostly assembled, with one issue that requires some extra parts to resolve. The bike does seem to be at a similar level of quality to an entry-ish level bike I got from a local shop a few years ago, except for the extra electronic stuff going on, so I'm looking forward to riding it once it's assembled.

These stealthy ebikes are appealing to me for those locations that don't allow ebikes. Like the Huntington Beach bike path. This looks like a good lower cost alternative to the baby maker. Just wish it had disk brakes.

I have always thought of ebikes as cheating...then I went to ride Cades Cove Loop one Wednesday last summer and was impressed by the little old ladies that kept breezing past me on the hills with their ebikes! And I am not saying that sarcastically! Those ebikes are allowing older people to get out and ride in ways that they were not able to before...and seeing that i am not getting any younger, I hope that the technology continues to improve! I was really impressed with this bike. It looks sharp and seemed to work just as nicely. Thanks for the info! Looking forward to the next 4 bikes...

@@twloughlin Well...like I said, as I age, I see it more & more. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂😂 Tbh, I had never thought about it until I spent the day riding the loop at Cades Cove on the “no-automobile Wednesdays” and I saw several older people riding them. I was like, “Dude! That’ll be me in a few years!” I can see stuff like that more, the closer that I get to it. 😂

I'm sure in a triathlon race, they wouldn't allow ebikes at all, however if you just use them for transportation to get around town, then I'm sure that they are completely legal to ride on the streets with no license, insurance, or tags since at least in most of the US, if you read the laws on motorized bicycles, it does say that you are allowed to have an electric helper motor up to 750 watts and it still be classified as a bicycle. At least to me, ebikes are not as cheating as cars are.
@mountainsnmoore256
@mountainsnmoore256 2 жыл бұрын
@@sburton015 Agreed. When we were riding in Cades Cove, we rode for a while with a gentleman in his early 90s. He told me that he would not be able to get out and enjoy that beautiful ride without an ebike. No racing going on there. Just enjoying an amazing ride.
@sburton015

@@mountainsnmoore256 Also me, one good thing about an e-bike for me is that I haven't had a driver's license since 2011 and I feel like a car is very expensive to keep legal and maintain. However my Emojo Wildcat pro 750 watt ebike has served me well because it gets me around a lot faster than a regular bicycle and also on my ebike, its completely legal for me to ride on the streets without any license, registration, or insurance since it just meets the maximum allowed by law to still be classified as a bicycle.

I’ve been giving this bike, as well as the KBO Hurricane, very hard second looks. I want an ebike and was considering one of the more standard varieties…big battery and big motor…but like the idea of these more simple and stealthy models so that I get more exercise in the long run. I’m about 5’9” with a 32” inseam…I was wondering about the frame size because I don’t want something that feels too big with the large frame, but I also don’t want to be completely hunched over if I got the smaller frame. My wife and I were even considering sharing one ebike for a while, as we’re having a baby in December so won’t be able to ride together until she gets a little older and can come along in a trailer or baby seat. The KBO is one size only and seems like it fits our height range better, with her at about 5’6” with a 30-31” inseam. What are your thoughts on these bikes, based on our requirements and measurements?

@@bobbyhempel1513 "Fast?" Really? How many people do you actually personally know to have worn out rims? Are you really believing this myth/hype? So for the full century or more of most bikes having rim brakes, riders were just wearing out rims left and right and constantly having to replace them? Does this even sound right?
@Smellslikegelfling
@Smellslikegelfling 3 жыл бұрын
@@RealDocJames Yeah that sounds like BS. I had a bike for 10 years with rim brakes and the only thing that ever wore out were the brake pads. There's no way rubber is going to wear down an aluminum rim unless people aren't changing the pads. Mine lasted for years under daily use commuting. Disc brakes do have superior stopping power but there's extra maintenance and noise, plus added expense.

A lot to like, but I do not like leaving my battery on my bike in a Hot or cold garage. I prefer to bring my battery in to the house charge and store in a more controlled environment. Battery is also small and may limit your range, but that is how they keep the weight and price down. Everything else is very nice. Would consider if removing the battery to take inside and charge/store was easy. Good review.
