What is the grip stand that you have on the bike? I have a Toyota van and I don't like mounting a bicycle outside of the van but rather put it inside. Would that grip stand work well for holding the bike secure inside a van?
@dusty_five_23 жыл бұрын
Just a medium price range bike stand from Amazon. If you can bolt it down to your van, it can probably hold.

I have different components on there now, see the latest video on this particular ebike on channel. My complements on your drop bar conversion, as that is what I am going to attempt also. Are the ebike rated tires you installed better than the gatorskins for flat protection, we have Goat Heads that seek out bicycle tires in the summer. Lightweight carbon front wheel and carbon fiber handlebars are next? Most bicycle shops use talc/powder when installing bicycle tubes... My FBO Hurricane should arrive today, went with the slightly larger battery and smaller motor with the mechanical Disc brakes. Still looking at adding a bottle battery somehow to increase the range...
@dusty_five_23 жыл бұрын
I have never try the gatorskin bicycle tires, but I've tried gator slotted serpentine and supercharger belts; that I know are great for vehicles. I wasn't concern about it being prone to flats from road conditions or in your case thorns. I bought the tires solely for its speed rating and tread pattern. I do carry an emergency flat kit with a compact adjustable wrench and some cable ties on top with a bike tool to fix ebike flats. Never had to use it, unfortunately never use gatorskin tires either so I cannot speak on that behalf. Interesting that you've seen a shop uses powder to coat the inner tire tube. All of the shops I've seen does repair jobs as quick, dirty, sloppy, and minimum by the book as possible. I think that tire/rubber lube treatment compound is better than powder. As far as the wheels for this V2 bike, I didn't want to change the front wheel as the rear wheel wouldn't be changeable to match the look. I went with an aluminum handlebar so that I don't have to concern about them breaking. Carbon fiber looks good and it does absorb or softens the ride by flexing. The problem is finding real carbon fiber that is well put at a reasonable price. I now have put on some Wheel Flash reflective decals on the wheels. The draw back with this road ebike is that it isn't great on hills/inclines due to the single speed set up and belt drive. It does great on flats and it rides very quiet for an ebike. I've converted 2 Roadster V2 thus far to drop handlebars. On the second V2, I've also friction saw cut off (3/8 of an inch) the seatpost tube on the bicycle frame, sand, and paint in effort to lower the saddle height for a shorter rider. What's next for me I hope when/if I ever have the $dough would be an electric dropbar gravel road bike from Cannondale or Specialized. Preferably a true class 3 with a chain drive.

@@dusty_five_2 I have run Carbon Fiber handlebars on my road bikes since 2016 without a problem. My second road bike in 2012 was a Cannondale R600 with a slice carbon fiber fork. I have used carbon forks on every bicycle I have owned since then because of the pavement vibration blocking. When you ride long distances any irritation can become a major problem or increase your fatigue. The FBO Hurricane is the first bicycle with a alloy fork and i can feel the soreness in my neck and shoulders after my first ride. I ordered The Brifters you installed and a Carbon Fiber fork, I will look at integrated stem and bars to complete the conversion. Thanks again for posting your mods.

@@jrnamida5470 You bet 🍻 carbon is great if you can find quality. But with quality comes an expensive price tag.
@jrnamida54703 жыл бұрын
@@dusty_five_2 A new brand name carbon fork from bontrager, ribble, ridley, specialized, trek, can be found on ebay for reasonable price. I have also used a variety Chinese Carbon stuff without failure for a long time, but I can easily agree with your quality opinion. My last bontrager fork purchase was shipped securely from Florida for $55. The fork looks like an original and rides well on the garage sale 2006 Trek 2100 bicycle frame with carbon fiber seat stays that was missing a fork.

any way to put a throttle on a drop bar after the v2 throttle upgrade?
@dusty_five_29 ай бұрын
There was a throttle upgrade in the V2? I haven't kept up as I don't ride as often to none. I suppose a throttle could be achieved with a different main computer unit that has a plug for it. As far as mounting a throttle, there are many ways to mount anything to a dropbar. Very much easier than writing the Declaration of Independence I'm sure.

I did the same to mine and even have the same rearview mirror! But I want to switch from belt to a 7 speed cassette chain drive to help with both low end take offs as well as higher end less phantom pedaling. Ever consider doing that? A bit of a challenge to get a rear derailleur hanger to fit the horizontal slot as well as being compatible with Shimano Altus or Deore. Haven't done it yet but am still investigating what is involved. A Trek mechanic told me it couldn't be done so that makes me want to do it all the more.
@dusty_five_22 жыл бұрын
Just about anything is possible to do to it, since it is just a bicycle. If someone can convert a bicycle to be jet powered. You can covert a belt drive to a chain. The challenge is can you make it efficient, safe, and practical for daily operation. I did not feel the need for the endeavors you've mentioned. If you scroll through my other videos. I already have chain drive road ebikes.

Hey man, did you have to remove the rear wheel when changing the tyre? Is it hard to do? I’m planning to put some carbon rims on mine haha
@dusty_five_23 жыл бұрын
The rear wheel needs to be removed to change out the tire. Disconnect the wire. Mark the location of the bolt nut on both sides before removing can help you to achieve the same alightment and belt tension when reinstalling, assuming it is already good. Torque them to around 25 ft/lbs. I bought a special wrench for rear hub motors through Aventon.com that can loop around the wire to loosen the rear wheel nut.

@@OlyMar83 if the rim is the same size or smaller should not be a problem. There's not much room to play with bigger tires due to v brakes. The problem is what happens to the motor and rear belt cassette? when you swap out the rear wheel.

Hi, I am also adding some mods to my v2 and want to switch to Continental gator skins as they have been nearly bombproof for me and they handle varied surfaces ( gravel when the pavement ends). Any reason not to switch to presta valves as well? Like your bike, thanks, Willy
@dusty_five_23 жыл бұрын
The tires is your preference in regards to puncture proof. Long as it ebike rated, you should be just fine. I just use whatever type valve that's equipped with the tire tube and I've never switch them out. If it holds air well when you ride often or has that normal slow leak after a tire sits for days. Then it's not a fail in my book...thanks, send me some pics on IG dm.

I have changed out my Stealth Urban Electric Bike KBO Hurricane front tire for 28mm folding Continental Gatorskin, as the 32 originally installed on ebike would not fit my replacement carbon fiber fork. Still have not received the Tektro RL341 Ergo Brake Lever Set, but did change the flat bar to a temporary alloy drop bars.
