The Ride1Up Roadster V3 is the latest version of the brand's popular city model, which can even pull some gravel riding duties. It includes a near-silent 500W hub motor, semi-aggressive body positioning that's athletic without fatigue, and a precise touch with a stiff fork and thru-axle.
In typical Ride1Up fashion, the bike is loaded with desirable components and a price tag that is far less than what you'd expect to pay.
We think the Roadster V3 offers excellent value for its price and will be on the shortlist of riders who want something that easily navigates a city!

I’m hoping you review the belt option, to see how it compares with other single speed, belt e-bikes. Although with such a fine grade Shimano, I might go with the chain option.

The elegant belt compatible (upgradable), sliding dropout frame. On a moderately priced chain drive multi-speed ebike,, is what really stood out for me. I just wish the weight was a little lower.

They've got the CF Racer which is carbon and much lighter. More dedicated road/gravel, but that's about as cheap as you'll find in ultralight carbon.

The V2 came in at 39lb but had lower power motors and battery. Looking at the CF it still has the 250 watt motor and the 7Ah battery. those seem to be the parts that grew

Great review! I would like more info on the Deore drivetrain vs a belt drive. Is the Deore very quiet? How would you compare it to a belt drive in terms of sound? I have the V2 gravel belt drive and I love the low maintenance and whisper quiet ride, but I don’t love the ghost pedalling. Im tempted to go with the 10 speed, unless its a bit noisy. Thoughts? Any recommendations?

great bike and a great review, lots of detailed comments (best of all YT'ers) on everything you want to know including range!... also how about adding a short follow up report if you get a chance to review the range extender battery and comment on how it feels and performs, that would be another great!

Given the stem size and shape, it seems perfect to eventually have the dash display embedded into it next time.

The parts on paper are so much better than the velotric T1, and this one comes with added features. Do you know why it's $200 less expensive? What am I missing?
@ElectricBikeReport
@ElectricBikeReport 6 күн бұрын
The T1's price is higher because it has some fancy tech including a fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth/app compatibility, GPS tracking, etc.
@reallifescience2069
@reallifescience2069 5 күн бұрын
@@ElectricBikeReport Tracking requires a GSM card which it doesn't have. It only tracks with apple tag (which is about $1 hardware) or when connected with Bluetooth, so it just has bluetooth SDK, which is only like $4 hardware add to a display. Finger print scanners have been added to laptops for years because they are cheap, but not very useful. None of that would explain why the bike with much cheaper parts is priced $200 more. Those are just 'techie' add-on's but not something that makes the cost higher

hope they add an adjustable stem someday! Wiring going through the stock stem makes changing it out more challenging
@Scomelbasses
@Scomelbasses 8 күн бұрын
An adjustable stem is an accident waiting to happen. If you need to change the handlebar height it’s much better to use riser bars than adjustable stem.

I was gonna say, just change the bars, simple. not every bike needs an adjustable stem.

I'm a newbie to ebikes (no ebike yet) and have a newbie question. My 24 yr old mtn bike has the Deore XT and Deore LX system. Can these be used on an ebike that has entry level Shimano components (not like this Roadster V3)? Would it even be cost effective if I had to pay a bike mechanic swap them over?

No quick releases is a smart move. Nobody wants this for a bike used to run errands. You want a derailer, your shifting alot and being stuck in one gear is dum, especially with a small battery

Ride1Up disputes the 44 pound weight this reviewer provided. According to a response from Ride1Up, this bike weighs 39 pounds INCLUDING battery. It would be nice if the reviewer would address the discrepancy.
@ElectricBikeReport
@ElectricBikeReport 5 күн бұрын
Our scales showed 44 pounds. Some variables to consider: ours was a L frame. The smaller frames (made of slightly less material) should weigh less. Ours also has the 10-speed drivetrain which should be a little more weight than just the belt drive. I doubt they are trying to mislead you - there are some variables that might add weight to the bike. In any case, it's still lightweight feeling to us.

If the bike had a 50wh battery that went 2 miles, you would probably say you were thrilled with the battery life compared to other 50wh batteries. You aren't fooling anyone and it just makes you look bad not to point out that low range is a compromise. The throttle isn't good for a 500w bike. Just say the truth. This is a compromise bike and that's ok. Don't pretend it isn't. People who buy this want a light bike.

@DM-fp8uw

@@reallifescience2069 it did 16.5 miles at top pedal assist. The Velotric T1 ST a bike that weighs less went 24.5. Both at around 18mph. Other bikes do 35 on PAS 5 and 70 miles on PAS1. So yes, it is a compromise.
