I was bummed out when they discontinued the V2 but had reached out to Ride1Up and they did tell me that a V3 was on the way, this was just last week so to my surprise was shocked at how quickly this came out. I definitely plan on getting one in the belt drive version . I live in a very flat city and the belt drive class 3 city bike is a dream come true especially with the throttle that’s just icing on the cake. Can’t wait to get one. Nice review and great work Ride1up!

This is the best lightweight ebike implementation i’ve seen so far. Respect! I wish it came in XL size for us big boys.

Looks so much better in black; disapointed you didn't reviewed the belt one, no maintenance and no dirty oil is a must also no wear on the parts and much less parts to worry about breaking or needing to repair, maintain or tune

Great review. Please make a comparison between this and the velotric T1 st plus. Also would you mind weighing it, another reviewer weighed it at 44 lbs with batt

I've had the Roadster V2 for over 3 years. I like it a lot. All of the upgrades on the V3 are nice except for that proprietary stem. I would want to swap out that stem for a suspension stem, but with those cables going into the stem, it's not such a quick replacement. That's my only gripe.

Yep this is such a deal-breaker! Otherwise looks like a sweet bike for the price (although I’m still very skeptical of support from many of these DTC companies like R1U)

that's very similar to the integrated bar/stem in the CF Racer1, but at least with this bike you can adjust or even swap out the bars if needed, which you can't do on the CF Racer1 without even more work. The slightly bigger tires should help make it a more plush ride than the outgoing model though even without a suspension stem.

I'd love to see a side by side with the pedal assist with a chain drive and a belt drive, esp for max speed under full power and assist. I'm in the market for a spare bike for casual/social riding but I absolutely do not want a chain. Very concerned about the off brand belt drive and no gears on this one though. Thinking I may need to do a mid drive with a cvt out back. But I love the sleek sleeper look of this bike and the well done cable management.

Great review! Please make a head-to-head comparison of this and the Prodigy V2. Which features you think are better? What upgrades you’re looking for on the PV2 in the future? Differences on motor, pedaling feel, shifting, etc.? Just curious about your thoughts on both. Have a great day!

Does the hub have any drag when not being powered? I'd like to see you pick up the rear end, spin the wheel and see how it coasts.

I’m looking to get an e-bike for commuting to work about 7 miles each way. This is a potential option. On days that it is raining, would water splashing from the ground be a big issue on those wires underneath the frame? I can imagine the wheel spitting water there consistently if it’s rainy.

I'm normally a belt drive guy but the Deore is so nice to have and it should hold up much better. I think that's the route I'd go in this instance, especially since we have some rolling hills where I live - it's not always flat. The throttle though does partially alleviate the concern with a single gear.

@ebikeescape - did you weigh the bike or are you using the manufacturer info for the 39 pound weight? EBR says it weighs 44 pounds.

@@Mattball82 yeah that’s why I decided to just convert our bikes with the cyc photon mid drive unit. It will make it way easier to get new batteries in the future without having to buy a whole new bicycle. External batteries that mount to the bottle cage mounts make way more sense to prevent future obsolescence.
