Guilty your honor! I was one the people to recommend you RideNow. I have now 4000km on mine and I have changed quite a few so I will share some observations: 1. First I paid mine $3.50 USD each. So testing them was not really a big financial commitment. 2. I lost one on my first ride, 5km in to a big piece of glass. Sometime it's just bad luck. 3. I always carry 2 (actually 3 since road are rough in the mountain, never had to use more than 2, but I feel better with 3 and 3 CO2). They are so small that it doesn't take more space than 1 butyl and 1 CO2. 4. I lost I think 3 or 4 tubes over pure lazyness, I had a small piece of glass that was stuck in the thread that I never saw, that you could not feel. I spotted it after matching the hole on the tube with the spot on the tire. 5. I lost one to CO2. Let me explain. CO2 is quite quick and cold. It seems like it harden the slim material and it makes it more brittle, I have sliced one tube like that. It just failed close to the valve. I now let the CO2 in more slowly. 6. The tube is so thin that it can stay stuck between the tire and the rim. Again inflating slowly and a quick double check help a lot. I lost one like that as well. 7. I tried an other brand, and the tube is smaller than ridenow, so in my 30c tire they strech too much and they fail after 2 or 3 days. I lost an other 2 like that. 8. I had one, out of the 10 or so, that was defective exactly like yours, at the seams. But lesson learned. I was about to give up, but I decided to stick with. I have ridden 1500km since my last flat and everything is now good. I know what to do (and what not to do) when I flat again in the future. I will switch my other bike on the RideNow as well. I hope you will consider giving them an other chance, anyway you have 3 more ;) I have a friend that I recommended the RideNow at the start of the summer, he roll twice as much as me and he still haven't got a single flat. Sometimes it's just bad luck.

No panic, I have ordered a 36g option over the 24g, cost me £2.90 for the tube. Will see if this last better than 12 miles and don’t fail on me. It’s all down to experience and I’m finding the Pirelli’s to be really good. Unlucky to puncture but on those stones it was always going to be highly likely but fixed very easily. Appreciate the detailed comment, experiences will always differ😊 Take Care and thanks again for dropping by😊👍

it comes down to understanding the process. 1 the tube needs to be inflated and put on the rim first, not like a butyl tube. 2. use an air pump. 3 alcohol wipes and glueless patches work perfectly. 4. for the cost, its a no brainer, the problem is the no brainers buying them and not know how to use them.
@JamesSocialCycling
@JamesSocialCycling 10 ай бұрын
@@donbethel7675 So I’m the no brainer! Pirelli have no issues with using a Co2 canister. If you watch the video you’ll see the RideNow tube failed not punctures. The best way to install these are to inflate them like I do with a butyl tube and the fail was on the seem, joint reason for fail so repair was not an option. However if you’d watched the video you may have seen me repair the Pirelli tube it was so easy and using the wipes and glue and patch a doddle. Thanks for your comment it’s appreciated, but I would prefer you watch the whole video then comment, unless you’re trying to teach me how to Suck Eggs that is

They might ride well, but I have had 2 of 4 not hold air. One had a very small hole that only showed up in water when it had quite a bit of air in it, and the other I don't know yet, just went flat overnight. I think they work as spares to get you home, but that's about it. Not reliable enough.

I think rubber inner tubes are the best to keep... 40gm here or 80gm there... It doesnt matter.... If I loose 1kg.of fat or 10kg. Wil be difference in cycling... But i understand this weight hysteria when it comes to road bikes 😁.. I change from clips pedals to flats... Saved 120gm...🤣... If you compete in tour de France...arms, legs, like a spider... Body like a pencil... Then i understand the gram chase can do some seconds in a climb.. But not for us... I am 173./...96.kg so i have to concentrate on my own weight (bodybuilding) and cycling is not a happy marriage... Have a blessed day out there 🙏🧙‍♂️

I think people need to know what they’re getting in to. As this tube popped at the seam. So could have been a dud who knows. We all have our experiences and that’s why reviews can be good, no surprises, least if this happens to someone they’ll be in the know and will take it as it is. Cheap and unreliable is my experience and the 12 miles I got out of this tube isn’t good enough whether £3 or £7. I’ve not had a puncture for a long while so unlucky to get caught out on the new road laid a day or so before. Again my experience. I didn’t find anything different in the instructions to cause and issue, unless it mentioned don’t pump up to 85psi. It’s a pity as I’m loving the Pirelli TPU tubes but just a bit expensive so was hoping these cheaper version would cut it. Cheers for dropping by😊👍

No expert here and not a RideNow die hard fan. But I have good experiences with RideNow. They leak maybe a bit more than Tubolitos when not in use. It seems as you have the ultra light 24 gram from RideNow. RideNow has a 36 gram version as well (which is what Tubolito, Pirelli etc. have on their standard ones). 36 vs 24 gram is after all 50% thicker and the welding points are a lot stronger, I presume. You also pumped it up with a CO2 cartridge. I have been told that TPU tubes will become brittle with CO2 and strength/quality of the tube will be severely affected. Should use a pump or a Cycplus-gadget. I had a period with six punctures on six rides in a row. Four of them was my own fault as the rim tape was too worn and one of the spoke holes had a sharp edge The remaining two were due to glass. All those were with normal butyl tubes. Just to say that sometimes it is the user and/or bad luck.

Thanks Lee. I wasn’t riding gravel, it was a newly laid road where in the uk they use tiny stones, so we got caught out on the route. My Pirelli tube punctured on this road. This was a road ride, #1. Whether you’ve ridden 5000 miles or 10 miles using these tubes, my RideNow tube popped under its own cheaply madeness. It didn’t get a puncture, my Pirelli TPU Tube had that fate. The RideNow tube gave way at a seam, joint after riding 12 miles. My Pirelli tube is now repaired as it allowed me to but because the RideNow split, popped at a joint I was unable to repair. So I’ve just explained the whole video for you so hopefully next time you comment you’ll understand what actually happened, in other words watched the video before commenting. My experience over yours differs massively, like others. When I said my review, that’s what it is, I wouldn’t ride these myself ever again, because of my experience. Hopefully that clears that up. Just to add, my Pirelli TPU tube has ridding over a 1000 miles without a puncture or “failing’.

I don't usually comment on reviews. But I have had such bad experience with the absolutely dog shit ridenow tpu innertubes I had to. I purchased 10 of these at a cost of £47. Everyone of these has gone down, not punctured, just gone down. When I halve checked where the leak is, it's on the rim side of the wheel, tiny pin prick holes, not just one but two or three. I have checked the rims, and they are hunt rims, well taped no snags, perfectly smooth. In my opinion, the biggest waste of money, ever!!! DO NOT BUY THIS SHIT.

Seems to me that there is a race to the lightest TPU tube by the manufacturers. I get it, that is what sells. But it seems like there is a missed marketing opportunity for a slightly heavier / more durable version. Current offering: “20% the weight of butyl tube, good luck out there”. Opportunity: “Tougher than butyl at half the weight” Disclosure: I have a couple of RideNow tubes (42 grams, for 48mm tire) that I have had for awhile but haven’t installed yet, just waiting for the right opportunity. Confidence level = low. Thank you for the video!

Hi James. I always carry 2 spare tubes anyway regardless. Plus the usual glue and patches etc to repair one roadside should it be needed. Plus, I carry an emergency boot type thing in the case of a tyre gash or split so the tube won't just burst through. Get me home type emergency things. And it's this sort of faff and crap why I don't use latex tubes anymore, nor will I bother with trying TPU ones. Or even tubeless. I have said before I know. Interesting insight. I've spent a fair amount of time considering the alternatives to regular rubber tubes -- mainly tubeless and TPU. While both seem to work OK for some people, the results for others have been catastrophic. Accordingly, I think I'll stick to butyl tubes - albeit Schwalbe extra light variety - which have stood up admirably for a bit over two years. The last flat I had, was due to a thorn, which I only discovered when I was changing my front tyre. The offending thorn was lodged securely in the rubber inner tube, so I wasn't losing much, if any air (I ride 35mm tyres at 55 psI). A standard patch sorted it, and the tube is now my spare. Call me retro, or just old, but I don't race and butyl works fine. Cheers

TPU is great. As a spare tube it make even more sense. There is a higher percentage of defect compared to butyl, but you can compensate that easily by carrying 4 tpu in the space of 1 butyl. I don't believe you are suppose to use CO2 to inflate TPU tubes. I have a frame pump because I got fed up with CO2 back in the days of using plain inner tubes. I have RideNow tubes and have great wear from them. When I first tried TPU tubes I got the Schwalble Aerithan tubes at $30 each. All three failed very quickly. The RideNow tubes have been in the wheels since the beginning of the year, I even switched the tires and put those tubes back in. Getting flats is a game of chance, you never know when. I may be able to use these same tubes for years but I may go out for a ride tomorrow and get a flat. Based on the wear so far I will use another RideNow tube since I bought 4 of them. I used to get a lot of flats using butyl tubes too so I wouldn't say they are any better or worse.

Why not use Co2? You’re not supposed to use Co2 with tubeless as it freezes the liquid. The RN tube that failed, it didn’t puncture, it failed. So I won’t be using any of the other 3 I have. @@JamesSocialCycling An update to my experience using the RideNow TPU tubes. I put one in around the beginning of this year. I've logged 2500 miles so far this year according to RideWithGPS. I had my first flat Thanksgiving when I took my bike to California for the Holiday. California has these prickly little boogers that stem from the desert environment, they are just like tacks. I put another RN TPU in and weeks later back in Pennsylvania it's doing just fine. We have Chip Seal Roads where I ride and I used to get a lot of flats using rubber tubes. Even tubeless used to fail because the hole was to big for the sealant to do it's job. I ain't saying that the RN TPU tubes are better, like I said it comes down to luck, but to get that many miles out of a tube is a good deal to me. I'll keep using using them.

The videos on TPU tubes are either talking about the weight and rolling resistance improvements or real life experience, in your case you basically filmed the time it punctured 😂 I think I'll stick my butyl tubes until my tires die. My gravel kings and wtb tires came pre-punctured and setting them up tubeless failed 😂

The ridenows didn’t puncture, they failed. Which was what I was getting across. I punctured my Pirelli and used a ridenow spare which failed and is the reason I won’t use them ever again. I’ve just managed to set up the Pirelli Gravel Mediums but won’t be bothering with my Road tyres. The Pirelli TPU’s work great. Appreciate the comment and view thanks.

I had a couple of RideNows from eBay, but had to give them away to others on rides (I know, I know. Long story). So I ordered some more from AliExpress; they apparently weren't addressed correctly so the PO 'sent them back' (2 months now and retailer says they've not had them back). Retailer won't refund or resupply. I thought Amazon were pretty awful but this AliExpress lot are another level - like you said, who do you complain to? Luke at Trace Velo loves 'em, but I'm done. Since I won't cough up for Pirelli's TPU prices, it's back to butyl for me.

This isn't really a review. You had an unfortunate incident, unluckily twice in one ride which can be frustrating. Brand name TPUs price is highway robbery. Sure it might feel and look like its higher quality then say Ridenow but there are a lot of riders who had similar misfortunes with butyl, tubeless, TPUs and latex. Been riding with Ridenow TPUs for almost a year and had three puncture in about 4000 km - maybe just got lucky?. I an not recommending them to you tho. 😀Go figure.

It’s a review whether you like it or not😆 RideNow 24g Tubes are shite and after 12 miles they popped under their own quality. We all have our own experiences and have issues with all types of tubes, but I am horrified this tube lasted this long. I will not be using the other RN tubes for this reason, always wondering when this happens again. I have ordered a 36g tube to see what the quality is like along side the Pirelli. My friends bought four 24g ridenows, all four popped less than 20km. They are meant for indoor cycling. Any bumps or potholes will cause it to pop. I use the 36g ridenows. Have over 1000km in them, doing okay. Only problem is they don't hold pressure overnight.

Unfortunate, but one data point doesn’t represent much of anything. I just switched to RN tpu and also got my first flat after 3 days of riding and something obviously cut through the tire , so I don’t see it as a quality issue and front tire was fine. I’ve ordered Pirelli repair kit so we’ll see. Big difference in price between Pirelli and RN tpu tubes, for me, jury is still out on RN: fingers crossed !

I've been using Pirelli TPU's for a few months. Had three punctures down to bad luck. However, two of them were so small the tyre only went flat after I got home and spotted the next day. I have repaired them and seem good. I also 'shredded' two when fitting! I use a Tyre Glider and it just sliced the tube open. TPUs are fiddly to get them onto the wheel, so it might have been my poor technique. I am persevering. James, I like your work. You come across well. Please good you do session on fitting a Pirelli TPU using a Tyre Glider - quick - as I am running out of glue!

😅 Running out of glue🫣 I am repairing my tubeless Gravel Wheel at some point soon, due to having problems and I carry a Pirelli spare. So I’ll do a short. Yes can be fiddly, you just have to make sure the TPU is in the wheel when using the T glider. I have found the repair of the TPU’s to be such a pleasure, so easy, no mess and once stuck no issues. @@SweetappleC to be honest I’m thinking don’t. Reason is I put a breaths worth in the gravel TPU last week and found it a pain to use the Tyre Glider. I had to push the TPU in the glider which took me longer to get the tyre back on. In hindsight I think no air and push the TPU up in the tyre and to the other side. This will allow you to use the tyre glider much easier and not catch the TPU.

unless you are racing or time trialling, I would say latex aren't worth the effort. I did run latex tubes for a couple of years many moons ago. They lose pressure so you have to pump them up ever ride.
