I remember reading a review of RRT4 in I think the official Playstation magazine at the time. Nearly 20 years ago now. It talked about the pre rendered opening and under a screenshot of it I'll never forget the caption. It said verbatim: 'One day all graphics will look this way'. That day is really here, and they do. They look like this and even better. What a time to be alive lol

This game was such a big part of my childhood and at times one of the few places I was able to find validation at a time where I was seriously depressed. Hearing the music made me smile and brought back the joy and sense of accomplishment that came along with perfectly timing powerslides to beat the computer after making a big mistake. That's where its at." one of them said. Them being ignorant in what they stated (this was around our kindergarden years), they decided to play nothing but sport games...yay.... After they stopped playing, they allowed me to play the console, which made me pop in this game. 0:00-0:07 begins hearing pure bliss "Whoa....." my reaction. Watching this in 2018 and what's really striking me is the "Welcome to the World of Ridge Racer" at the end. I sunk hundreds of hours into this game as a kid and distinctly I remember the game really building it's own world and pulling you into it -- even having story with characters and a team to care about was unheard of at the time. Not to mention everything else about this game, from the style to the soundtrack, complemented the racing and the atmosphere in an absolute flawless way. This game desperately needs a remake, or the series at least needs to go in this direction again. And again, that soundtrack...perfection. Are there any artists or genres out there today that are making this type of music?

I forgot I had this game and I just found it, after many years! I haven't played it since '99 I think. Such a nostalgic feeling playing it again... Awesome soundtrack :) I also found Rage Racer, I think it was the previous one, before this..

Goddamn. The production value of this game was off the charts. Peak of Ridge Racer for sure, maybe even the peak of racing games on the PS1, or any console. Unforgettable.

I remember first playing this when my ignorant friend didn't realise what gem he owned and just decided to lend it me (all I was used to at the time was rage racer, which my curiosity drove me to climb my bookcase for) I was instantly shocked by this amazing intro, I listened to it about 3-4 times before actually bothering with the game, then the graphics and game physics nuked my brain and I fell in love with the game, of course I had no idea what I was doing so I chose the race team with my favourite colours (PAC RACING CLUB) and did my best, I was also surprised to find that the Assoluto Fatalita was in the game, as it was completely different from rage racer (or so I thought) I'm glad I discovered the franchise (by climbing that bookcase all them years ago) and I'm sad that there's no RIDGE RACER 8 for ps4 and Xbox One
