More reviewers should do this. First impressions or a usage test is fine for a review, but a long-term perspective (especially in regards to Quality) is definitely super useful.

The initial Ridge review is what brought me to this sight, and then...like everyone else...who knew there was a sight dedicated to wallet reviews? Ended up binge watching the reviews on leather wallets (and subscribing), as...that's where I decided I wanted to land. Ordered the Aurochs Wave a few days ago. And...after only having 1 wallet for YEARS now...kind of ashamed to admit this, but...I may be getting more than 1 after watching this channel! Very intrigued with the Aurochs Infinity tri-fold, and...got an eye on either the Nomad Slim or Serman Brands 5.S

Thanks Mark. I am glad your being this thorough. I got my Ridge 3K Carbon Fiber in May of 2020 and I still love it. I was actually excited to see Ridge now offers a coin tray. It should save me having to buy one from Aviator's site. Of course, that depends on whose quality is better. Aviator offers a felt lining to minimize the rattling sound and if Ridge's tray is just plain material then I'd be better off going with the first choice. ✌❤

I have carried it for about 5 years straight . It’s a solid wallet, the bands are still just as tight as when I first bought it .( I never stuffed 12 or more.) I bought a friend a cheap knock off and there was a huge difference in quality. I’ve never had issues with loosing cash with the clip or strap. However since it’s looking rough I decided to try out the xsto, and I’ll admit it’s a lot easier getting the cards out of the middle . So far I’m loving the xsto in rhino gray. Both are stellar options. ( anything branded edc or minimalist is going to have a hefty tag. But you do get what you pay for .)

I've used a ridge for almost a year now and don't like how getting to the card you want isn't easy every time, also its not good for holding receipts, and having the cash visible is lame. I've been looking at Bellroy Note Sleeve, Allett Original, and Distil Union Wally Micro. Really leaning toward Bellroy. Thanks for the good reviews!

I bought the Ridge Ember wallet recently and I was excited. I waited 7 days for it and when it finally arrived, I opened it up and was instantly disappointed. I spent an extra $20 to have a design look as if I bought the basic forged carbon design. There was so little red infused aluminum on it. I then exchanged it the next day for the same wallet, (Forged Ember), and then had to wait another 8 days to get my replacement, and, when I opened it up once again, it had little to no red infused aluminum flakes on the plates. Now I'm debating on exchanging it again and having to wait another week plus for it to probably have the same problem or just return it and get my money back and go elsewhere.

I just found your channel. I've had a Ridge Titanium long enough now that I don't recall how long I've actually had it, but it's years. I continue to be happy with it, I can access my cards quickly and I don't carry more than a two or three bills of cash. It's also also held up very well. The bill strap has some wear along the edges., that's it. I like the small size of the Ridge also. Just for curiosity, I'll check out your channel to see what's new out there in slim wallets, slider wallets, etc. But it'll have to be really good to cause me to switch.

Good update - I have this wallet and it was my favourite for a very long time but there are lots of knock-off competitors on Amazon. Also, I have one of the older models, and I had two cash straps that all got a bit 'beady' - their new strap may be better. I will say, I interacted with their customer service a few times and they were great. This is now my 'car wallet' and houses the cards I only need to have in my car and it's a nice little tight deck of cards.

Three year Aluminum Ridge wallet user here! I have really enjoyed the minimalist design of the wallet, where I can keep it in my front pocket with no worries. Mine has the elastic strap, and I found it very inconvenient to use cash with this strap. Because of the strap I rarely use cash now (when I do I keep it separate in my back pocket). The biggest problem I have with the Ridge wallet is something rarely talked about, and has lead me to find a new wallet. My issue is with the card sliding, I live by a beach and do a lot of activities outdoors; where my wallet comes into contact with dirt and sand. When dirt and sand gets in the Ridge wallet, sliding the cards quickly wears the cards away. Now since I need to replace my cards more often, I leave myself looking for a bi-fold. The Ridge wallet is a great design but it is not for everyone.
@walletopia2 жыл бұрын
Ah, very interesting, that makes complete sense and would become a problem any place where dirt or sand is prevalent. And especially if you spend time outside.

What is the purpose of the "plate" on the money band? I know it * can * be removed, but what will happen? does the plate actually make a difference?

It's there more to help provide area coverage to hold cash into place. The elastic is not very thick, so the plate helps compensate in my opinion.

Btw since you buy the wallets yourself, do you make enough money from the videos you make about the wallet to cover the cost of the wallet itself? Or do you lose money with each video, but you still do it because whether its a profit or a loss, it’s still your passion?

I carries the Ridge Titanium wallet for an entire year and here is my opinion on it I carry my key fob for my car with two keys attached to it in my front right pocket where I kept the ridge at. It was so bulky and heavy it felt like in my pocket and I only carried like 6-7 cards in it so I didn’t like that When I would go to checkout at stores I couldn’t really get my cards out easily and in a seem less manner. I carried my credit card and my debit card on the main front and then the other in the main back so it was quick access but still was cumbersome to fiddle with at the gas station with a line of people behind me. And then I had the cash strap version and when paying for anything with cash and getting a bunch of $1’s back or bills in general it really was aggravating to fold over the money and hold the cash strap up and slide it in. Should’ve tried the money clip in my year of carrying it but I didn’t. Overall I would definitely carry the alley again but decided to go back to leather because I missed the soft feel and smell of leather. So I went with the redeemed creations slim wallet and just started using it yesterday

Good review, the wallet its self can or could be complicated if your trying to get cards out in the middle of the wallet. Also looks like over time the elastic could wear and probably the wallet would not support your cards properly. Also the coin tray, your better off getting a coin capsule by Dango if going to cary coins. And the money clip kinda poor design. And the price WOW! The website says $85.00. That pretty pricey for a poor design. The only thing thats cool is the tool. Lol.

Good call for revision, I believe your standard for pricing fluctuates a lot in your older reviews in my opinion, and for feature I think sometimes you forget to yellowing checkmarks for any wallet needing to fold cash twice for yen/euro.
@walletopia4 жыл бұрын
For the green/yellow checkmark, I'm finding I almost need a middle ground. For example, when we get into higher denomination notes in Euro's, they require folding twice, but the lower denominations don't. Not so much of a problem with pounds as the £50 requires folding twice, but is being retired this year..finally.
@aristo9999999994 жыл бұрын
@@walletopia yeah, to be fair seeing £50 is like seeing $2 bill. I think the more important one is the main one. I think the problem was I saw some of the reviews were needing both yen and smaller euro denomination folded twice and there was green. I will comment there if I encounter it again.

Ridge is not good in my opinion. I've been carrying the carbon fiber version for months. The edges are hard on your pants if you happen to sit on it repeatedly over time while it's in your back pocket. Getting a card of out of it is a chore, and you'll look like an idiot doing it in line at the cashier. Also, there is no barrier between the cards so they constantly scrape against each other when you're getting one out which damages the strips and chips. It looks great and the materials are great. But unfortunately those attributes are a trade-off for having a wallet that's just...you know, a good wallet. So once again, I'm in the market for a new one. I'll probably end up getting a Bellroy sleeve.

I would argue the 2 plate wallet systems don't function all that well as wallets. Accessing cards can be difficult, especially if you have 6 or more. Money has to be trifolded and adds thickness. A box wallet like the secrid would be similar in dimensions but much easier to access cards and cash. I would only recommend ridge if you have just a few cards and maybe a couple bills and you value an ultra compact design. Accessibility is pretty bad though
