That splined shaft adapter is used on mower gear boxes, on multiple blade mowers there’s usually a pto shaft connecting the gear boxes 1” keyed shaft.

@@Dancing_Alone_wRentals they are replaceable. It probably was a spare that fell off a service truck. If it fell off the mower you would have found more parts.

That tool looks like a alignment tool to align the transmission on to the drive line going to the rear end

It did look like a PTO to me....It had that 540 RPM look to it. Now...any guess as to how it got on the highway?

@@Dancing_Alone_wRentals I can only speculate. Sometimes used equipment rattles apart. Possibly a scrapper lost it off of a load. I've found some unusual things on the road.

Does that have the 3.5 v6? Those should have the timing belt replaced every 100,000 ish miles. If the belt breaks all the valves hit the pistons.

@@Dancing_Alone_wRentals There is a high mass (heavy) special socket which you have to use with an impact to get the balancer bolt off. Either that or jam a breaker bar in and kick the starter.
