Thank you for the best video for me as I am upgrading from the the early lower voltage battery tools. Decided on Ridged for their lifetime replacement of batteries and you nailed the most important tools tools to get and why.

Make sure you purchase them from Home Depot. Not sure if you watch the video that I just posted on using their Lifetime Service Agreement for batteries, but I found out Home Depot is the only authorized place to purchase and get the LSA. Doesn't look like they you will give you the LSA with a purchase from Amazon.

As a frequent DIYer I've been in the Rigid platform for a number of years (at the time mainly for the price). I have most of their cordless tools and some outdoor tools. Tools have held up well. Used the LSA for a battery recently. It took awhile but eventually it came. I wish they had more shelf space at Home depot like Ryobi.

The newest line of ridgid tools are nothing short of premium quality professional tools. They perform just as good if not better than the other leading brands. Lots of people have 1 bad experience and use that to judge the entire brand as a whole, which is ridiculous because I've had better experiences with my ridgid tools than my dewalt and milwaukee tools - by far. And I've never had a ridgid tool start smoking under load like i have dewalt

I’ve been using rigid drills since 2006 when they were super heavy. I have the latest gen drill/hammer drill and impact and I love them. I honestly like the fact that other guys on site have other brands,because I know there’s less of a chance my batteries get stolen or taken by mistake Thanx for the vid!

I purchased a Ridgid corded 4.25" grinder for the lifetime warranty. And because my Ryobi unit quit. I noticed the Ryobi unit had bushings and the head developed movement as it wore. I also have a brush type cordless Ryobi hammer drill and at over 3 years it has a lot of play at the chuck because of using bushings instead of ball bearings. The Ridgid side grinder has a year of heavy use as we built a concrete house and steel shop in Mexico and so far no excess play so will be looking to change to Ridgid as the Ryobis develop bushing play and quit.

They're objectively lower build quality and lower performance than milwaukee and dewalt. That's why they're significantly less expensive

I'm no tool expert, although I have tons of stuff from Dewalt, Makita, Bosch and Milwaukee. My brother is a GC and he runs a multitude of roofing crews here in central FL. He switched over to Rigid because the roofing crews kept killing the Dewalts he'd been buying them, so he decided it wasn't worth spending premium money on tools that weren't going to last, so he bought the cheaper Rigid impact drivers and drills. They've held up to abuse far better than the Dewalts he'd been using. Very surprising.

The button on the back of the impact driver is to change the speed of the driver, not a battery indicator, that is still on the battery itself. Also, with your multi-tool, that is the JobMax which has several different heads that can be swapped out (not all included of course) which is why it has the direction switch.

Ok, I feel dumb. Thanks for pointing that out. I actually didn't notice the switch was there until I was recording the video. When I was editing, I thought it was odd that it had 3 numbers instead of 4 bars. 😂 Might need to cut that out of the video. Thanks agian.

@@BruBuildsNo worries. Wasn't trying to make you feel dumb. I'm a Ridgid owner and have similar tools. It would make more sense to me that if you're going to edit the video to cut that part out, to just edit in the correct information. Not everybody is as familiar with these tools.

It made me laugh. Unfortunately, with KZbin you can only cut out a section. I was trying to find a way to replace the voice over, saying the speed control is on the back of the unit..... Oh well, I'll have to point that out in a future video.

Also, have the drill and impact driver from a set that came with a radio in Home Depot. My impact driver (R86034) does have a button for the light-only and is almost identical to the drill except for the chuck and dual speed trans-m. Your newer/faster version R86002B is 33% faster than mine according to the literature. I often switch the drill/screw function opposite to your preference since only the drill on low transmission speed can power a Robertson 14x4" screw into a 2x4 connecting a 4x4. I also bought a separate chuck to put on my impact driver for versatility. My drill version is a R86008 and the clutch has 24 settings instead of 100. I have actually twisted several #3 Robertson bits on this so only use the shorter bits now. Bought mine for the same reason you did, the battery lifetime warranty. Have had mine for more than 5 years and it was the best tool purchase I have made other than the corded tools. Also hoping that if the batteries act up I can replace them. In my experience it is the chargers that are to blame for most battery deaths in non-tool items and the Rigid charger seems pretty good at this point. I am now seriously looking at the Rigid multi-tool to add to my set after seeing your video. Thx!

Bought a dozen ridgid tools over the years starting in 2017. I recommend them when I can and would do it all over again. Do you really need anything else. I use them practically daily as a commercial electrician, and the LSA is amazing.

I own about 40 Ridgid cordless tools, and over 20 batteries. Can’t say a single one of them Has failed me. I’ve cut 3/8” steel and bigger with all kinds of 18v saws… They don’t even bog down beyond the resistance of the blade. Solid Tools, I Love the Rotary Hammer. Drilled a .75” wide hole 22” through a foundation the other day… the extension was in the hole. I was stoked, thinking about buying a chuck adapter so I can use hole saws with it. It’s comfy to hold!

I'm looking for a cordless leaf blower, but when you look at the specs. they just don't have enough power....yet. I noticed they have an Auger, that uses two batteries. I wonder how well it actually works?

I have the leaf blower and I have no issues with it. There is a turbo button that will boost the blower to move some heavier items like tree bark around. I got a 8A battery recently as part of a promo deal and used that on the blower. It has a good run time and helps balance the blower.

Dude, I do commercial havc. I run ridgid and people on Milwaukee and Dewalt are stunned by the affordability. I jacked up 2 batteries because I got them wet. No questions. Replacements were sent and they said to drop the damaged batteries at home depot. I always register as soon as I buy.

Yes I like my corded tools. Also, when I’m at home I have a lot of craftsman and Black & Decker that my dad owned I’m 61 so they’re nowhere near newand they keep going

I have had a 3 piece combo for 20 years now ( 1st generation). Now they tell me that it is not registered, when I have had batteries replaced & they have my email address. Going to call again to see why this happened. But my tools are still working great sine 2004.

I have a fairly complete set of Ridgid cordless tool and have no complaints EXPECT THE RECIPROCATING SAW. I HAVE BEEN THOUGH 5 WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. I finally gave up and bought a Milwaukee M 18 super saw-all and have not had a minutes trouble 😊

How bout your oscillating tool? Happy with it? I m in property management n maintenance so I do lots of remodel work n need 1 on many jobs but just for a short amount of time. 1 charge can do 3 jobs for me on my old Porter.

@@kingtucky4300 For what I've used it for it has worked great. I go through phases where it may sit for a month, then I'm using it almost every day. Mine is the JobMax version which looks like they may have discontinued. Cool concept but the other attachments are really expensive.

I had the job max with all the heads. The power unit went out and now they don't make it anymore. So they sent me a check and now I'm setting on all the heads and can't use them. The money they sent covered the power unit and one head not all of them

I went with ridgid for the same reason the warranty on the batteries as well, I have drills and saws and drivers the new chainsaw and leaf blower and they all do everything I need them to do. I just had an issue with a 3ah battery I bought back in 2013 it stopped working. I called Ridgid answered a couple questions and they are replacing the 3ah 11 year old battery with a new gen 4ah battery without any hassles. So right there that is well over a $100 savings for me to get a new battery

@@BruBuilds I like it, I used it all last winter for blowing the snow off the driveway vehicles and sidewalk instead of shovelling in our -40c Northern Alberta winter 🥶 and this summer for blowing the grass clippings and blowing out the garage and again no problems and lots of power on turbo The normal full power is kinda pointless and noticeably weaker then turbo and I just hit the turbo button 99.99% of the time so not sure why they just didn't make full power the turbo power I use the 8ah and they last 20'ish mins on a full charge using turbo so it uses a lot of power But like I had said I have the batteries and their warranty is tool and battery so that is why I buy Ridgid I paid like $160 cdn plus taxes for it as a tool only and the same for the chainsaw and they both have done what I wanted them to do so I am happy. I also just bought the weed whacker as my old one was a black and decker one with different batteries so again for $160 for the trimmer as tool only I picked one up this summer havn't had a chance to really use it yet gonna clean out the backalley along my fence here this fall with it but now all my tools in my house are ridgid and use the same batteries ☺ The turbo mode like I said was my only "con" as I just hit the turbo all the time when I use it so why not just make full power the turbo power

@@BruBuilds yes lots of time they haven’t failed me yet from batteries chargers radio drill flashlights propane heater there really good and it just got better with their 14 day service turnaround now that Home Depot won’t take Ridgid repairs and repair centers far it is worth it now haven’t tried that yet but will in the future

in terms of performance all the major power tool brands at home depot will perform exactly the same. not noticeable to 99 percent of consumers. I think it comes to do additional functions a tool comes with and as well as how big of a tool selection is available for that brand. But Id take ridgid over everyone else because you have LSA. thats basically free tool for life. how can you beat that?

I started out with a drill and impact driver combo set with a battery charger and 2- 1.5A batteries over 10 years ago. One battery recently did stop taking a charge but with one of the newer battery charger, the battery was able to get reconditioned to take a charge. Since getting my combo set, I have gotten every battery Ridgid has put out except the new 12A one. I size the battery to the tool and job I am going to work on. Normally, I have a second tool for the job so if one battery dies, I can switch the battery around between tools. If I think about it, I take out one of the larger capacity batteries as a spare.

I quit RIDGID tools when a corded angle grinder literally blew up by my face during moderate use. The air tools and saws died before their time. But maybe they’ve improved in recent years.

Amazing batteries, thanks to this product review I got more ambition to get out on the ice even though I don't have my usual gear! Just a battery and rigid small hand drill! Auger was modified to use in a drill!

Ridgid had several different batteries out and you could have 2 batteries or one larger capacity battery. When I am looking to get a new battery (not a replacement battery), I watch for the two battery pack specials. It is like the price of one battery but you two batteries instead.

After 20 years of charging, usage and discharge you'd most likely fall under wear and tear. According to Ridgid "Warranty coverage ends when the product becomes unusable for reasons other than defects in workmanship or material". "The Lifetime Service Agreement are only applicable to the original purchaser and may not be transferred. These programs only cover wear and tear or failure of the tool arising under normal usage and proper maintenance. They do not cover any malfunction, failure or defect resulting from misuse, abuse, neglect, alteration, modification or repair by anyone other than an authorized service center for RIDGID® brand hand held, pneumatic and select Stationary power tools. Any damage or malfunction inflicted upon the tool by the user or other external sources, or any failure to comply with the warnings and instructions in the operator’s manual is not covered." It's a bit ambiguous as they say they cover wear and tear with normal usage and proper maintenance, while also saying coverage ends when product is unusable other than for manufacturing defects. At least with the Ridgid Direct program you won't pay to send it to a center. I would plan to just buy a replacement that far down the road - Work Smart @@BruBuilds

Rigid could make a toothbrush and I would buy it. Thier line is the best you can get. I cant speak to the LSA. Been in the line for 20 years and have never had to use it. Not once.

Ridgid has been falling behind for years... customer service is absolute dog shit yesh you get a life time warranty but that doesnt cover the labor cost of it to be fixed which is the same as any shop
