Ridiculous C Cat Race! // Zwift Games - Stage 1 Sprint Race - Loop de Loop

Zwift games stage one sprint race! Seems like there's some cheaters in the house on this one. Winner was at 4.5w/kg at 166w which would put them at 36kg. No HR and no weight listed on ZP. Several others WAY above the 3.2w/kg C cat threshold. Still listed in ZP as valid. Crack down on this Zwift.

Well done. These race seem to have bumped the competition up a level with the larger groups, and much higher paces throughout. Way to stick in there. Great effort!

Thanks! I’ll be hitting up stage 2 soon! It’s crazy to see how much the competition has increased over the ~6 years I’ve been on Zwift. And these large bunches are insane fast. I end up getting faster times in C group than most B races I see just due to the volume of people and the competitiveness of them.

This was a fairly normal C-cat Zwift race. In a short race you can expect to see power values a little higher than 3.2W/kg. I did 3.2W/kg (299W) myself this race. The winner mentioned he's 14 years old, that could explain the low weight. Last week I did a just over one hour race which winner was 12 years old, 145cm tall, weighted 34kg and did 3.9W/kg 134W average. I finished that race 1m28s behind the winner at 3.1W/kg 293W.

I appreciate the sentiment and explanation, but I certainly understand how FTP values work. I, myself, have a DQ for doing 3.8w/kg in a C cat at only 33 minutes in length. It's really simple math how so many of these people should've been DQ'd. At 36.9kg, using ZP's 95% of 20 minute power is 157w. That puts FTP of the winner at 4.25w/kg. That's A cat level. Even if the weight was legit, there was no HR. That should've been a DQ. Looking at 95% of 20min values in that race, 5 of the top 25 were over 3.2w/kg. In sub 1 hour races, that's the bar for FTP.

Also, looking at it, your 95% of 20min power was 3.01w/kg. That's well within the C cat level.

Primetime Zwift racing gets large groups! As for the kit, I think I got it doing a USA Cycling sponsored group ride. I do hold a USAC race license, but I'm don't recall if that was a requirement for that particular group ride.
