to answer a common question: the 1st 2/3 of this video didn't take too long, but the last 1/3rd took hours and hours longer to carefully tune all the little tones and details.

Each of your projects has one point, a particular moment when the subject ceases to look like a drawing and begins looking like a person. This one started out as a drawing of Emma Watson and then, somewhere around 2:03 or so, became Emma Watson. Watching the work in high speed enhances that effect. Your talent and skill is astonishing. Looking forward to more.

Exactly, this is why I love the artwork here! I love how artists can take something (charcoal, some clay) and transform it into something living and beautiful...

How is this not the most popular channel in the world. Your talent is unfathomable and your drawings become so real it's frightening; seemingly surreal the way they manifest from the paper by the end. Thank you for pursuing your gift and sharing it. I speak so respectfully and formative to you because you must be above the average being. Perhaps you are a god. I am so utterly impressed I cannot place enough emphasis into this comment the magnitude of my awe. Im not wearing a hat, but if I was I would tip it to you my friend.

Idk why but one of ur videos made me cry.. yes cry because of ur talent I never seen someone use a couple tools to create a portrait of a person it takes so much practice that's why I practice every day I'm terrible but ur videos always help me get ideas even if it's shading of using charcoal I always try but it's never enough so after I watched one of the videos I cried because I thought in my head .. wow this must have took so long to master and practice on that I shouldn't give up because If one person can do it another can do I just wanna say how much I love ur work🌸

Incredible. Have any of the actors and actresses ever contact you? You have an uncanny ability to make these portraits come to life.

This is so crazy to me... You use way way way less white charcoal than I do... you get the highlights by erasing the black charcoal, instead of building up a white charcoal base. And the end result is just as good! This is fascinating, thank you!

Love your work and I was hoping you would also mention the total real time of your portraits? Would be a nice touch to know...I also work fast but then again I like to take my time for the realism, detail, and accuracy to the best of my ability...but not to force consistency as I like variety is more appealing... My trade mark that I use for the portraits I do are marker blenders on charcoal, pencil and colored pencil...you should try it...I came up this technique by accident during mt tenure at art college early 1990s...earning a BFA in illustration major but I am more of a fine artist that is well diversified...the army would not allow me to choose fine art major back then - not giving a real reason when I had to use my G.I. Bill. A comment on my pencil portraits and figure studies that were hanging in the student's gallery - the founder of the school thought it was silverpoint and when I explained what I did through accident he was really impressed and the illusion of my colored pencil looked like pastels or even painted... Best regards and always a joy to see other artists!

Hi, this drawing is amazing, I am just starting to draw portraits and your drawings are the exact high standard pieces that I want to draw one day. I have a question, is the kneaded eraser mentioned used to get the light tones back into the hair and skin? Because I am having trouble trying to get that soft skin/hair look in my sketches.
