Buy a triton, 3 1/4hp $260, integrated dust collection and lift. Then all you need is a plate, $50-110 depending on what you want.

Just giving you a heads up. The weight of my router and router lift cause my table top to sage. That's one of the reasons it comes with the longer screws it's so you can reinforce it or make the top thicker. I do have a three and a quarter horsepower motor so mine is heavier but definitely something to watch for. I also built a dust collection box underneath with a plexiglass door. It works fantastic!

I have a Freud table with a 3_1\4hp Freud router. The top is basically paper board.. which did the same thing sagged very badly..such shame pay so much money for junk..next one will be cast iron..

Had a lift like the one you are showing. Gave that away years ago. Used a HF 2.5HP for years until I moved and gave it away. Now I use my trusty PC890 with the fixed base on a generic place, with a hole for the height adjust wheel. I've even made adapters to use the PC890 with my FS guide rails and my LR32 plate.

I have a sears 2hp router. One motor - 2 bases. One fixed and one plunge. The fixed base has a screw adjustment to raise and lower the bit. Mount it under a table and it works. I drilled an hole for the adjustment and its good to go. I have used it for about 4 yrs now. Use it about 2-3 hours a month. Pull motor out and use the plunge base. I love it.

Since I didn't see any comments relating to the shim setup with the Freud tongue and groove bits thought I would mention this. I have the same set and found the grey vs black on diagram is to let you know which shims need to be paired up with each cutter...the bits do not get the same size shims to pair up..also if you follow it exactly joints are slightly loose , I would recommend on the groove bit go a few thousandth less for tight fit.

I have that router. I bought a router table base for it for $50. Attached to a 1/2” piece of plexiglass and dropped it into a melamine table top and it works beautifully! I paid substantially less for the base, insert, and router tabletop than you did for the router lift.

I have a similar setup to yours, but with a Woodpecker lift, Hitachi router, and homemade fence which attaches to my saw fence. It's mounted on the right end of my table saw. I attached a cheap plastic box below the router with a dust collection blast gate to catch the dust there. An on/off switch mounted high on the table will make turning it on/off much easier between runs. I have a Rockler version, but you can make your own with a light switch in a metal electrical box.

Much less expensive than Kreg lift is the Jessem router II. It is very well built and about half the price. It is not adaptable to all routers , but DOES work fine with the Bosch you picked . That’s what I used. I did belatedly get the plate hole template and recommend it

This is my issue with the Ryobi table, I loosen the base and the router flops sideways making a different measurement when I tighten the base again. I like the router tho it's my first router with a soft start I hope it works with other lifts

Router bits Freud or Diablo. I don't go cheap on those because they save a lot of sanding time

Adjust the tension on the bolt on the locking lever, so when you release the lever it will take the play out of it. So it should not release the motor unit too much.

Another thought: have you considered the Sommerfeld Tools tongue and groove bit set? A bit spendy at $99, but they are made to precisely fit each other, and they machine the height of the two bits so you just drop them in and they’re at the right height. Pretty legit.

If you're going to use an adjustable slot cutter, get a caliper to measure your stacked-up width. Then you'll know exactly how wide your slot will be, and can measure your shims instead of trial-and-error. The General Caliper is about $30 and plenty good enough.

That’s a great T & G set Freud, I have the same set but there was a size key that came with mine, also it was set to a 1/4”, awesom set, grab a set of verniers and measure, record your measurements/shims set up for future use.

Very cool set up you have there. Next time you are ripping out countertops, use that instead of that chipboard you have for your router table. It'll hold the weight of the lift and router a lot better and the material will move not easier across it.

You know you could do a less expensive solution since you opted to get a new Bosch 1617 router, right? The plunge base for this router can be modified to turn into a router lift for about $80. The plunge base and router are about $50 more if you buy them as a combination set. You would need a router raizer rz200 kit to convert this innocent plunge base into a router lifter. It should cost you $130 to go this route using the same old 12x9 router table plate from Rousseau since the Bosch plunge base will mount to the old plate. With that said .... I have a Rousseau bench top router table that I love but I hate, hate, hate that stupid 9x12 dimensions plate. You gave me the obvious but I didn't think about idea to modify the hole in the table to accept the standard 9.25x11.75 plate (Kreg, JessEm, etc.). Thank you brother!

Well. This looked like fun. 🤕🔨 Who designs this stuff? Avon ladies? Are there thickness measurements embossed on the spacers? 1/10? 1/16? You'll spend half your day trying different combinations to get the grooves right. 😡📏 A slight bit of wiggle room re the rail & stile grooves is OK ~ leaves room for the center panel to expand in humid weather. (And in warm kitchens when baking & cooking.) Otherwise the door may warp or curve over time from all-around expansion pressures. And the joints may separate slightly too, messing up your paint work. Most framed cabinet door are pieced this way. So that the center panel "floats." (If you're worried the homeowner will not understand the concept, & complain, disregard it. Not worth the headaches & call backs. Most modern upscale homes have enough AC/climate control to prevent this from happening anyway.)

There exists jigs for these types of router bits... they are worth every penny and they align the cuts perfectly between these type of bits. I stick with Freud because I have their jig. Saves time and trials on wood. Food for thought.

YOu would think so. the thread locker was only on half of the threaded rod. Only one side of the threaded rod had the Allen head. The thread locker is needed so they don't vibrate loose. Going in from the top is the only way to have access to the allen head and the thread locker.

@@TheHandyman1 Thanks for that. Here is a product I use all the time. It is great stuff. Vibra-Tite VC3 Anti-Vibration Thread Locker. Put it on let sit 30 minutes then install the fastener. Can reuse about 5 times. Can use on so many materials.

Even at the ultimate $8-$10 per 1,000 views, that is peanuts compared to the opportunity cost of doing something else.
