Speaking as a teen myself: many adults do not realize impact of the stuff y’all do on us. You can see the difference between many cultures. Let’s take American teens and Korean teens. American adults have a beauty standard of being sexy and being very sexual. You also wanna look mature but still youthful (so look forever 20-25). American teens see this and do it. Now let’s take Korean teens. Koreans prioritize youth and wealth so many of their social media stuff is them having a pure elegant look that’s very luxurious. That why many of the it girls/boys on Korean social media flex their wealth or having the most expensive trending items from celebrities When you are a teen you want to mature. For us to want to mature we want to have the look of someone who is. We look at adults. So that’s why gen alpha kids and gen z teens dress and act the way they do. Say thank you to your adult peers

I was a teenager during the height of the Kardashians and insta "baddies", so you can imagine how that effected me and every other girl my age, and how the boys viewed us. The most slvtty outfits, chest out, heaaavy drag-queen makeup, and desperate selfie angles to appear "sexy". It was so sad. After becoming an adult, seeing how much worse it has gotten to the point that every big female influencer/celebrity is selling an uncultured stripper image and glorifying being a wh0re, it's made me even more determined to protect young girls and speak out against this perverted media that ultimately will bring them down to a place that is hard to recover from. We adults are responsible for the youth, our children and all children. Kids will ultimately emulate what is seen as popular and cool. And if we make all the wrong people popular and cool, obviously the poor kids will believe that is the way they should be too.
@monicacreator3168Ай бұрын
The root of the problem is we made it acceptable for women to dress sexy all the time because its "your expression" "your body your choice ". We normalized it for the adults of course its trickling down to the kids. If how your dress is not sexual and just an expression, why is it bad for my kids to express themselves?
@AUGHHHHHBBGАй бұрын
This is very complex. It’s not a problem to make it acceptable for women to dress sexy. I think the issue comes in when y’all make sexy the standard of beauty since beauty standard affects EVERYONE
@KuromiLaBellaАй бұрын
Ignore the first reply, because you are 100% right. This is not actually a nuanced topic like people wanna pretend it is, it's very blatantly obvious. The moment you normalise vulgar, sexualised forms of dressing and behaviour, boiling it down to simply "expression", the younger people who are not fully developed DO look at that and start to emulate it. I know, since I speak from experience. :/ If adults act loose, and have no sense of morals, values or self respect and opt to just reduce themselves to an object of desire, no shot the kids will see it and also think it is ok. Who do you think they look up to? Adults.

And honestly it goes both ways cause if uniform doesn't affect our education and wearing whatever you want doesn't affect education. Expressing yourself is not a must right so why do we have to do it at school because we're going to go to learn not to express yourself. We are free to expressing ourselves anywhere else. And I feel like if we are going to school to learn then we have to dress like school learners. Just like if you're going for a job interview, you are going to dress like you want to get a job. And if you think about mindset, when you dress like you're going to a club or whatever is it really gonna put you in the mood for learning. I understand in a way that fashion creates a statement just like how some of the teens are wearing “ridiculous” clothes to be respected, in a way that they are seen more than just children and are just trying to grow out of it- and honestly you can’t hate that. Even though the blame is shifted towards parents I’m more concerned with fashion and cosmetic industries because even though they are for adults, some of the adults are allowing toddlers, children and teens have more access to stores more than ever- just think about the Sephora kids, then look at the product, and think who were the prices made initially for- it’s the adults!! Just like how there was this uproar in girl’s toddler clothes, they just appeal more “sexy”, like bitch why, and for who do these toddlers need to appear “sexy” to. Like the whole sexy, feminine, mid cut, short cut looks on women clothings are for women. None of the clothes have a demographic in mind as well, for example- I just literally went shopping today, as a 19 year old (I admit I do have restrictions when buying clothes for myself because of my religion- I do respect it in its entirety) however I am met with 3 sections when I go to stores like forever 21, Zara, primark etc. there’s always baby clothes, infants and then do a WHOLE LINE JUMP to adult- you got jeans, trousers, tank tops, shirts, trousers, blazers- like how else do you want teenagers to dress. I feel like the whole entirety of our being is girl to women, from frocky dresses to silhouette, we are met with the expectation that being and aspiring to look older is ideal and then women get shamed for it; being called sluts and whores. Granted the girls in the TikToks are somewhat in the wrong for not wearing “demure” clothes, but the clothing brands are not sincerely demure themselves, they are not respectful, they are not mindful.

This isn't a "let kids be kids" situation. As a parent, you are responsible for how she is seen in public. It she's dressed like an adult, you can't be surprised when adult men see them as an opportunity. It's not good parenting and we as a society need to normalize modesty once again or this won't improve.

Ok since im one of these girls but older and I've dealt with older women mostly saying mean things, my question to you is ,WHAT AGE ARE WE YOUNG GIRLS, SUPPOSED TO DRESS LIKE THAT? what age is that appropriate? For everyone's sakes police your own clothing respectability politics help no one.
@KuromiLaBellaАй бұрын
As a young woman, i'll chime in with my own 2 cents. Have you ever stopped to consider that those clothes....just aren't appropriate at all? Because they aren't. If in nearly every scenario, you wearing that sort of highly exposing style is seen as being inappropriate, maybe that just means...the clothes are inappropriate, period. This seems to only be a topic with women, because I don't think I have EVER seen men or boys just *itching* to dress revealing or show more skin than needed. Ask yourself, why are you so eager to expose more skin? For what? Speaking only from personal experience, I used to feel like I had to show more skin when I was more in my teenage years, and it was purely because other women were doing it and they influenced my behaviour. But looking back at it, it wasn't a good thing.

@@KuromiLaBellagenuine question, what would you consider inappropriate clothing? Would you consider shorts and a crop top to be inappropriate?
@yolk175326 күн бұрын
Young Girls are never meant to dress that way. it's that simple. become an adult first. when those young girls become WOMEN aka adults, they can dress how they want. even then, adults also have dress code. male and female. it is inappropriate to dress in certain styles (stripper) in most settings aside from a dark underground club or otherwise, but as an adult you technically can dress how you want.
@KuromiLaBella24 күн бұрын
@@jul7605 That purely depends on how short both items are and where you are wearing it. Crop tops are not inherently bad, but they are inappropriate in a lot of settings. For a teenager? I do not find it appropriate, unless it's just a small patch of midriff. Shorts? I personally don't find female shorts appropriate at all. Designers seem to loovvee giving women shorts that don't hide anything. I might as well walk around in my underwear, what is the difference? If it's long enough to at least cover the top of your thighs, it's fine in certain settings. But if it's literally just below your butt, that's not shorts, that's underwear made of denim. Ultimately, it's not even just about clothes, it's the purpose of the clothes and what message you're sending out with them. I genuinely don't think any minor should be put in clothing that allows them to get unwanted stares or makes them feel like they should be stared at. Of course they should dress stylish and express their fashion sense, but it doesn't or shouldn't have to come at the cost of them losing their dignity, self worth, or feeling the need to get attention from people that will only drag them down. They are young, they do not need to rush to grow up, and growing up doesn't mean having to go through a phase of being provocative or vulgar.
@Sugarcomalove825 күн бұрын
In my opinion, dress code is really wrong and im glad they banned it (in some places) but some girls are really taking advantage of that, and as a teen, seeing my friends and classmates come to school in nike pros and crop tops or literal sports bras makes me a bit uncomfortable.

I f@cking hate that Wal-Mart clothes for young girls are more s@xualized than the grown woman’s section. The grown woman’s section is way more conservative than even the teenage section. Even w/ the Madden label being added to the clothing line it’s 🤬 ridiculous that they don’t carry XXL and up in that line even though the lesser brands in the same section go up those sizes but are less attractive and more conservative. 😒

I live across the street from a high school. Most of them are wearing hoodies and Crocs. They wear hoodies all year long no matter how hot or cold. This is not a thing. It's a fabrication. Moral panic to try shame young girls. Mofos will see ONE child's kneecaps and say "kids these days".

interesting how i've seen actual kids in schools all over talking about how kids (girls) are dressing inappropriately to the point that They are uncomfortable. your claim of fabrication means nothing when other people can see these kids. back when i was in school in the early 2000s other girls were dressed in the tightest possible nonsense as soon as they started puberty. and that would be more modest compared to now.

@@AUGHHHHHBBG do you mean which kids are dressing which ways or which kids are saying they're seeing them? if the latter, there's a few in this comments section. i was one of the kids uncomfortable with how girls were dressing back when i was in school. they exist in other places as well. if you mean the former, i obviously don't know them personally, but they exist. and i'll concede that people have different levels of appropriateness in mind. personally, i believe that everyone, no matter what age or gender, should simply wear a full shirt and pants to school. that's it. because it's school. they can dress up when they're not at school.

There is a way to talk to young people about the clothing choices that they choose. You can still wear stylish clothing without it being too revealing. A lot of young women are looking for attention in the wrong ways. There are a lot of great clothing stores where young ladies can find appropriate skirts, shirts, and accessories to make them feel encouraged as well as expressing their personality. Everything does not have to be short, revealing, sheer or low cut. 🙏🏾 There are also times when young adults can wear clothing to school and change their clothing perhaps in the bathroom or at a friend's house. Let's give grace to both parents and students. Parents have to find ways to de-escalate the situation not make it worse.
