I just recently got this MT-11 running after it had sat for many years. The carbs need more work and much better balancing, but at least it's running.

Been thinking about getting one myself. How's your experience been? MPG? Break downs? etc.
@jbradleyhorn4 жыл бұрын
I’ve just gotten it going, so too soon to say on MPG and reliability. The bike is super basic with points, condenser, coil, carbs, drum brakes, etc. Parts are plentiful on eBay if you don’t mind the wait for things to reach you from Kiev. My only break down to date was a broken valve adjuster, which I think related directly to the missing intake valve cap on that cylinder. As far as fun factor, it gets looks EVERYWHERE it goes, so lots of fun. It’s definitely not fast, but tons of fun.

Мой друг из Эстонии сказал мне, что у его отца был Днепр, и он ненавидел его. Он не мог никуда пойти без рук, покрытых маслом или жиром. My friend from Estonia told me that his father had the Dnieper and he hated it. He couldn't go anywhere without his hands covered in oil or grease.

@jbradleyhorn2 жыл бұрын
No worries. All KMZ manufacturer records have been lost, and I know of no source that makes sense to the numbers on the engine or frame. At SovietSteeds.com, it was suggested that you pull off something like the rear taillight and look for a date stamp. Mine had a light made in 1995, so I think the bike was finished at the factory around that time. More pix: www.flickr.com/photos/43899092@N00/albums/72157712197580952

@jbradleyhorn Жыл бұрын
Dneprs are basically like tractors. They are overbuilt and overall pretty simple machines. Mine still has a few oil leaks, but nothing serious. I struggled with mine for a long time until I figured out the coil was bad. Now mine has Ukraine Weber carbs, new jugs, and an oil-filled coil that normally is aftermarket for a Harley. Runs great. My dog loves it.

in russia you can buy one like this from $1,000 in average condition, possibly without documents, up to $2,000 with documents and minor defects, of course, you can even find one in good condition with documents for $900, but it's very difficult. Also, if you are from the USA, you will have to pay for its transportation, customs clearance, and other fuss with documents.

TroyaE117, it’s hard to say. My bike was assembled in Colorado in 2012. We believe it was a “Yuri” bike - a bike made up of old parts that was sold on eBay as a kit. The speedo is an 85mm, just like the Ural one. In fact, I bought a Ural KPH/MPH speedo to replace this one with. Thereafter, I also bought a K750 headlight bucket and speedo, which has the 80mm speedo in it. Because my current speedos don’t fit, both will go back up for sale on eBay in the end. My plan for this bike is to bring it as close to the look of the original BMW R71 as I can, including an R71 replica tank, K750 headlight, and low front fender from a CJ750 along with a front fender license plate matching Steve McQueen’s plate number in The Great Escape. :).
