36" wheels are a ludicrous idea. If we agree that 29" is the correct wheel size for someone who's 5'10" (questionable, that's not very tall and might be better off on a 27.5"), then the proportionate wheel size for someone who is SEVEN feet tall is approx. 34", not 36". 36" is way, way too big for someone who's 6'7", you just need to find a 29er that fits you.

I own one of these in the states... Coker Tire makes unicycles also... They called this the monster Cruiser... Mine came with a somewhat in adequate but better than nothing front rim brake full fenders and chain guard and a 3-speed hub... I flipped the handlebars over and forward so it looked like a moose and put bar ends strategically, this configuration provided a lot more attack and made standing up a pleasure.. also eliminated running the handlebars into your hip. rode that thing on the mostly level Canal trails day-tripping... sometimes 60 miles a clip Quite a bit until I decided to put a new crank and more teeth and longer crank arms... yeah I have to be careful not to run your feet into the front wheel when cornering... small-sized pedals help... swapped out the handlebars for just straight ones which are pretty narrow... And that seat is way too heavy... Sela SMP is my fave... it has a much better top-end in the thing hums with the button bead tires when you're rolling down hill.. feels like a motorcycle without a motor. Thanks for demonstrating the weakness of the fork... And of course the wheels being tuned on such a large diameter is a must... Also the rear dropouts because of the chain tensioning design... Is a weak spot to consider... you get lots of attention from people when you're out with this bike

Hey Pilgrim , what we yanks used to do when our forks would bend like that is loosen the handlebar nut and turn the fork backwards. For “nut” bikes we would always keep a set of vice grips clamped under the seat around the seat post. Those things could essentially break a bike all the way down by themselves.

If you're that big custom frame is the usual way to go. There are 36" wheel bikes being made, take a look at Dirtysixer and Truebike. Depending on your weight and style of riding one caveat is wheel strength is greatly challenged by going with larger wheels, especially 36", which are hugely bigger than 29". If you're doing any serious off-road riding you'd be better served by going with 29" and dare I even say, 29" Plus. 29+ isn't popular, but it's probably more accessible than 36". Wheels will be stronger. Also, 29 and 29+ will be a lot cheaper.
@musicalmotors3 жыл бұрын
@@peedee4065 Thanks for the ideas. I already own a custom frame 29er made in Bangladesh when I was working there. All steel, decent components, very heavy. Great for gravel or road rides. I have looked at DirtySixer but I’m going to wait on it for now until I’m loving somewhere more permanent. Truebike is new to me. Looks quite odd but another possibility.

@peedee40653 жыл бұрын
@@musicalmotors 👍 Any reason you wouldn't want to stick with 29 but a lighter frame? The bigger 36 wheels give you better rollover and stability but otherwise not much else. So, unless you ride terrain where you're struggling with going over the bars or coming off the back end, and unless you really feel the need for a smoother, faster bike in dealing with trail chop, I honestly think a 29 would work better. There's no doubt 36 is faster and smoother, it's just that if you're a heavier person and/or riding more technical terrain the weakness (and weight) of the 36 wheels are a factor.
