I’m not a Sea-Doo guy I’m a Yamaha guy, but you’re probably right. It’s probably the flush port that is a stupid place to put one below the waterline because I think from what I’ve seen if the carbon seal goes out, you probably have a sun ski in the morning.

Should of record steve seadoo, it's was half way sunk , fused all wet, 6 men pull him onto a floating dock, left on the island for 5 days. All that water is due to carrying too much weight for all those days. Not built to carry your home. Soon as u dock, off load everything Wish a boat tow steve back to Miami, I try to ask but everyone was saying leave it behind and let someone on the island fix it, come back and bring it back

Yeah I saw that. It's unfortunate. I'm glad he was able to finally get it all sorted out. It would be nice to have some sort of plan to get back skis that have broken down. We'll touch on that in the next video.

It took a little bit of convincing for Christine as well. I think the turning point was doing a shakedown run, where we ran 80 mi down the coast, just to make sure she was up to the task. Telling her that she can swim with rays and nurse sharks at the other end definitely help too. Lol

Hey there! Thank you - Amazon affiliated link below for the goggles I used on this ride. For the most part the water stays out - it just depends on how much water you take to the face. Hahah! The water mostly will bead up and roll off the lenses. amzn.to/3XpVSfs

So a little stressful on the way back home. Oh my goodness. I’m glad you guys made it back home safely. Looks like you are very mechanically inclined and can take care of some issues. I have a 2023 Sea-Doo GTX 230, my friend installed a bilge pump and it looks like that will be my next install. Great video!
@WeekendersontheWater
@WeekendersontheWater 2 ай бұрын
Yeah, a bit stressful. Especially thinking it was the carbon seal initially. Once we got halfway and I saw it was dry inside I felt a lot better. We've gone on a few ride since then, and no issues. It's just such a slow leak from staying tied up at the dock all night. I'll get it fixed soon.

I have 330 hours on my original carbon seal and no leaks on a 2007 GTI SE 155. I also have the same ski as Lewis with 80 hours and no leaks. I actually forgot to put in my plugs on both skis on the 4th of July and rode about 3 hours and they still didn't sink 🙏

This is why I ride Yamaha. SinkDoo is the worst most unreliable jetski on the water. As I tell all my jetski buddies.....YamaDoo and Seadon't
@WeekendersontheWater
@WeekendersontheWater Ай бұрын
That carbon seal on the Sea-Doo is real Achilles heel. Turned out not to be the issue here. It was actually my fault for over tightening that port. Well Yamaha does tend to have a reputation for better reliability, I've heard some issues with some of the Yamahas as well. I hear on the new 2024s are having top end engine issues as well as issues with the hulls cracking, paint peeling, and gas gauges reading incorrectly. Also as shown in the video a Kawasaki did not make it back either. Unfortunately there is no perfect ski.
@ParrotHead1980
@ParrotHead1980 Ай бұрын
@@WeekendersontheWater I would definetly agree you, but overall reliabilty in the ski market Yamaha owns it. 90% of all jetski rentals use yamaha. There is a reason for that. Biggest thing is every ski on the market can get over 500 hours on them if you take car of them. But even skis on the rental market choose yamaha over kawi and seadoo because no matter how much you throw at them they stand the test of time. 👍
