It's so good to see back to your old self, good to see Colin and the gang at the HD shop, everyone looking well. That pan head is nice, we have a dealership here where I live, that has one identical to it, one owner, the one whom owns the dealership. As i said good to see you all back and doing well. Be safe.

Bought my '62 for $240 down, $40 a month for 2 yrs when I was 19. Hardest money to scratch up ever! Kept it 24 years, many changes. Had it in tune well enough to win many a beer starting on first kick ( trick to it!). Later, I lived on that bike for 2 years homeless.. I regret selling her the most, and miss that bike, but none of my 3 ex-wives....!

Can you tell us the trick?

Good on ya mate. Yeah I miss my old Harley, first electric start Sportster XLC1000.
@fredflint17972 жыл бұрын
@@browngreen933 when setting the timing, put the timing mark slightly toward the front of the hole (retarded). It's not enough to noticeably affect performance, but it does help starting. Then I installed a bending carburetor. It's basically the same design as a linkert, but you gain an accelerator pump. Two squirts on the throttle (eliminates the primer kick), hold one quarter throttle for fresh air, and bang! Keep clean points. Worked best with motor cooled down. Every bike is different, so practice what works for you.. Results may vary based on one's ability to kick the shit out of it...
@fredflint17972 жыл бұрын
@@browngreen933 my bike was an flh, so it had slightly higher compression and a 24 tooth engine sprocket ( I believe fl's came with 22). I ran a 24 tooth counterpart sprocket instead of the stock 22. Smoothed it out on the highway and gave me opportunity to downshift at highway speeds for passing. When the low rider came out, I found I could walk the dog right by them when she was wound up

@@fredflint1797 So many guys guard that knowledge and won't share it with the pups. You're a man's man, and an absolute legend for sharing like that. I've always felt the success of the next generation is a reflection of the character we showed when showing them. I appreciate you showing us. Hopefully some of the young guys will take up an old steed and put that knowledge to use.

waking up the echoes of an old blokes bikes circa 1962 is just cool twisting the same throttle, squeezing the same clutch and kick starting the same pedal that some bloke did brand new in 1962! cruising some of the same roads possibly resonates with riders globally! super cool 😎

This is why I'll stick with my 65 Electra Glide, Panhead. When I was younger I could look "cool" kicking it over. Now I'm old and smart. I use the little black button on the right handlebar to start it.🤣

I sold my 85 FXRS a few years ago. I have some days of missed nostalgia, it was a fun bike to drive. My 2018 FLHX ANV pulls me right back to realty and I don’t miss the FXRS (and the oil leaks) too much after riding the Street Glide. I have the king tour pack and hammock seat for it and long trips. I happen to be finishing up a long ride right now. Started just north of Chicago and went to Baja California, Mexico. Came back into the states and visited Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches and Mesa Verde National Parks. Crossed back east to Alabama and now heading north currently in Tennessee.
