Laura, I feel so badly for you having to endure those conditions when riding. Once in Big Bend, I was frozen, my fingers didn't work and we were supposed to set up a tent for camping. Death Valley is supposed to be memorable and years from now, you will remember the sights, the wind, the cold and the weirdness of the place. Hope your next vacation can be better timed to enjoy good riding weather to see the sights. Great story telling with the video, as always though. You are a pro!

Love the artsy shots of the buildings in the beginning. Glad you got off the road before it got any more stormy. You are so cool and can really handle yourself with all the situations that get tossed out at you on this kind of a journey. When I was younger I was a pilot and heard of stories of pilots getting to a destination and having to return to work or some responsibility the next day and pushing themself to fly when the weather was not good. Sounds like you scoped out the weather and calculated the safest distance to go without getting in too much trouble. Look forward to the next one!

That’s one brutal ride through the ice,slush,snow and freezing temperatures. I actually had flash backs looking at this reminding me of taking off way too early in the year on my first solo trip. It was good to see that suv keeping an eye on you all that way. The site of that hotel and having a vacancy must have been a huge relief! I got stressed just watching this! Maybe I should go back to viewing your videos on my iPhone instead of the big flat screen lol… less stress that way lol. All in all a great episode.

Laura, the best way to combat frozen hands is to 1, fit heated handlebar grips and 2, buy a pair of handlebar muffs. Once you do that you wish you have done it earlier, life savers.
@lauradanielle19912 ай бұрын
I really need to get handlebar muffs! I have heated handgrips, but they didn’t feel like they were working at all in the cold. I think the muffs combined with the grips would have been the sweet spot though. Lesson learned the hard way!
@quotemenot75202 ай бұрын
@@lauradanielle1991 Trust me Laura, not only will the wind not blow the heat from the handlebar heated grip, but when it rains your hands will stay dry too. I can ride in the coldest of weathers with warm hands despite the rest of me getting cold. GFI Laura.

Over the decades, I have ridden through all that bad weather. Now that I am retired, I can practice words of wisdom I heard 40 years ago from a biker long gone. The only thing that you can 100% control is if you get on the bike. Taking refuge in a truckstop while a system passes through....or even spending a day in a bad hotel over getting hit in the face by 100,000 rain drops.
