I love your videos. I also love your bike. I own an old sportster 883 (older than yours) and a Dyna Fatbob. My only wish is that I could listen to the wind and engin roar when you ride. I am very impressed with how you pack and plan your trips.👍

I’m trying to figure out how people get those awesome audio clips of their engine. So far all I get it a lot of wind noise. Hopefully I’ll figure it out soon!

One way of doing it is to clip the mic to the rear heel side of your trousers/pants bottom seam. On a sportster the right leg as that’s the side the exhausts are on. This picks up the exhaust note and as it’s at the rear doesn’t get the wind noise too much. Doubtless people will say ‘what if it falls off’, it won’t. Make sure to use the fluffy wind deflector too. Alternatively position the mic somewhere to the rear behind you on your luggage out of the wind and closer to the exhaust. Loving your videos. Thank you

White Sands is an amazing place. It can be 100° but the sand doesn’t get that hot because it’s a different sand that’s on the ocean beaches.

This one brings back memories. The first time I rode my motorcycle in White Sands where the sand was packed over the asphalt, I was scared to death. This Midwesterner kept thinking he was riding on snow... even though I knew it wasn't snow...... anything that white had to be snow! Wish I could pound the like button twenty times.
@lauradanielle19913 ай бұрын
It really does look like snow!! But at the same time, it also feels like there should be an ocean in the middle of all that sand. Beautiful place!

Thank you, Laura. I remember seeing the white peaks of this place rising up out of the desert. We had a schedule to keep and so pressed on, but not detouring is a regret. Thanks for showing me what's there. And, also, “Whoa, Nelly! WTF is that? Interstate checkpoint? Have my papers ready?” Is the federal government taking away our “right to travel” freely?
That just means you have an excuse to plan a road trip out that way again to see White Sands!! I’ve run into a few checkpoints but they always wave me through, thankfully!

Laura: I just rode my Harley Panamerica from my home near Houston to Bakersfield, California and back. One little interesting town I stopped in was Pie Town, New Mexico. It seemed like your kind of place. Did you visit there? If so, did you stop for a piece of pie?
@lauradanielle19914 ай бұрын
I hope your trip went well. Pie Town was on my list, but I never ended up getting there! Did you end up stopping for a piece?
@Jeffrey-t5y4 ай бұрын
I did stop for a piece of pie, it was really good! Like you, I ride solo so I find excuses to stop frequently to get off the bike for a bit, people watch, or just enjoy the moment. You are young and your motorcycle contributes to your zest for life. I’m 80 years old still have that yearning to be on the bike and see what’s around the next bend. It doesn’t go away I’m happy to report. Keep riding Laura! Continue to explore what’s over the next hill, while savoring the little things along the way, like maybe a piece of pie! Best wishes and God bless you!

@lauradanielle19914 ай бұрын
I had no problem with it- a big portion of the sandy section of the road was compacted so there were no issues there! It was mostly just the larger turns in the road that had a bit of loose sand.
@Michael-st1hl4 ай бұрын
I enjoyed watching this, all that sand in the road made me a little nervous and I wanted to jump through the screen and yell.. don’t use the front brake with all that sand on the pavement! lol. I have to say, you really have put that EVO 883 through its paces and it seems as reliable as many people say they are. It’s the first time I noticed the heated grips as well. It nice the officers and the dog waved you through that checkpoint. Such an enjoyable video to watch! Take care Laura.

That’s awesome, I hope you do- I’d love to tune in! I use CapCut to edit. I find it’s one of the simplest platforms to edit on. And for music, I recently downloaded an app called Epidemic Sounds that has a whole bunch of copyright free music. I find it difficult to find copyright free music that’s more my style- while the app is simple, I find it takes a lot of weeding through to find some of the better music.

I’m watching your adventures from Pickle Lake Ontario, your videos get me excited to Ride my Bike on my next days off. One question how are you ridding your Sporty on Sand? I get Nervous when I’m on my KLR with Knobby tires. You’re more skilled than I am Laura.
@lauradanielle19913 ай бұрын
Right on!! Have you ever driven the road north of Pickle? I’ve thought about taking it a little ways, but I’ve never quite had a reliable enough vehicle 😅. Riding in the sand wasn’t too bad on the sporty! Aside from the shoulders, turns and a few little sections, most of the sand was compact enough to not worry too much.
@marcvielfaure77013 ай бұрын
I’ve only gone a little ways north of Pickle Lake but being a pilot in Northern Ontario and Northern Manitoba the staff vehicles I get are “intended” to get you to and from work only so I haven’t ventured too far. I actually started my career in Flint Flon Manitoba flying a Cessna float plane. I’m kind of new to motorcycles. When I saw your ride to Flin Flon it reminded me how I always fly over all these cool places but I never get to see much of it close up. So last year I got my motorcycle license and bought myself a motorcycle and my plan was to explore a lot of these end of the road places. I really feel like your choice of music really captures the feeling of Northern Canada. Really good stuff Laura. I always look forward to your next video. Be safe!
