Be prepared! Lookup the "10 Essentials" and always bring them. My rule is if you cant walk out w/in a few hours and or are in and area with few people -- you should be prepared to spend a night. Mechanicals, injury, weather, even other trail users who need aid can force an unexpected overnight. You can build a kit no bigger than a large seat bag. Be safe man!

@@cccycling5835 that's fair! I understand why on a lot of rides y'all do the filter/bottles, I just think for a ride like this I would be too worried about running out if I didn't bring a like 2-2.5L bladder. But I'm an east coast rider so no stream is safe for that stuff near me lol

Frame bag + hydration bladder. Shock cord, or use one of those fly fishing retractors, to attach the hose to your bars and you can almost handsfree drink and it keeps the center of gravity low.

I managed to get down there a few weeks ago to finally ride the whole loop. I've been on S Pyramid creek a few times and Scar Mountain once, but never the rest of the trials forming this loop. I love it so much down there, and so bummed to read that portions of S Pyramid Creek trail are in the current Pyramids fire area. Hopefully they get things contained quickly. I'd hate to see this epic route of continuous ancient old growth go up in flames.

Garmin inreach + Garmin head unit with crash detection + a friend to make sure you are not stopped for too long. As for emergency kit, you should include a space blanket (unfold it and repack it) and a tourniquet.
