I've got a couple other videos from this day that will be up soon. Also, check out his video of me driving his buses on his channel.

Thanks guys for making this video. I'm a retired driver/Transportation Director. Sure brings back some good memories. Love the sound of the engine and the hood emblem!

Same thing, but our district's oldest ones are 86's or maybe 85's (If they're not retired) Thomas S1700s, the lighter duty S1800 basically.

I don't know if you have seen the movie Remember The Titans, but there was a scene when they rode buses. That bus is a 1984 Bluebird S1800. I have sat in the drivers seat of it. I have seen her run in the winter. She isn't in bad shape.

What engines did these have? Always remembered the boxy international blue birds were louder than the round nosed models
@newfoundrooski4 жыл бұрын
Engine options varied based on what model you had. There were two S Series models, the S1700 and S1800 which divide into two sub-models: S1723, S1753, S1823, and S1853. Those which had 23 at the end of the model name were powered by gas engines, and those with 53 in the model name were powered by diesels. Starting off in 1979, with the S1723, you had four engine options: a 345 (5.7L) V8, a 392 (6.4L) V8, an MV404 (6.6L) V8, and an MV446 (7.3L) V8. The MV-series engines were discontinued in 1981, leaving the 345 as standard and 392 V8 as optional until the S1723 was phased out in 1986. The S1753 which was introduced in 1983 was powered by the 6.9L IDI, which became the 7.3L IDI in 1987. The S1823 was powered by the two MV-series engines listed above, which were discontinued in 1981, phasing out the S1823 model. The S1853 had a 9.0L V8 diesel which was the standard engine, but the DT466 was optional. A Caterpillar 3208 was also an option, but was discontinued around 1982.
