I'm new to riding enduro/ dual sport, and I've really been enjoying your videos. It's nice to see someone who takes a more strategic approach to clearing obstacles, and doesn't ride like a complete maniac haha

I'm stoked you like the channel man! I do my best to be as strategic as I can lol.. I've been riding for about 10 years now and I have had a few crashes turn me off of hard charging everything without a little bit of plannig hahahahaha

I ride a lot by myself and agree with you 100%! No need to take unnecessary risks.
@madjack_7578 ай бұрын
Definitely! Riding solo is a totally different game than being with a group. I feel much more inclined to ride harder when I know other guys are there if I need help.

As usual, great video! It's so funny that you went through the deep part of that river...... we were sorta joking when we suggested you try it. After watching you, we went more to the side.

Thanks! Hahaha I'm glad I at least got to let y'all know it was deep. If it were much deeper, I would've been swimming lol.

I've been watching a lot of your videos and really enjoy them. You have a really good riding style along with a great attitude. If I wanted to see hardcore enduro cross videos there are plenty of those on KZbin, but I actually prefer to see your realistic, normal, real world approach. I've also led quite a few of those trails during Jeep Easter Safari, and for those who can't tell from the videos, those obstacles have real consequences and doing them alone on a motorcycle really does take it to another level. Even with groups, dealing with injuries is difficult out there.
@madjack_7576 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! I really try to include realistic experiences without trying to just be another guy trying to show off on the internet lol. Plus I try to work on the filming side more than the trying to ride fast. You're totally right too. Especially while riding alone, the risk of accidents out there are serious.. The cameras never do the obstacles any justice.

I rode Kane Creek about a month ago. The water looks slightly less than when our group rode it. It's fun watching someone else take almost the same lines in rocks and around water that I did. My comment coming into the creek area for the first time was almost the same as yours. Looking forward to Part II! Good stuff!

Great minds think alike 🤟🏼🤟🏼 I can’t imagine riding it while the water is much higher. I bet it was a challenge 🤯 Part 2 currently up on the channel and it gets a bit crazy in that one 😂😂

The beauty of Kanes creek is all the multiple routes you can use. More water, less sand or vice versa. Problem being on the time of the year you ride it as the water can get pretty deep. Nice Vid.

Have you tried using the Michelin Mousses? I’m running them now and have had no issues so far. They were awesome in Baja and also in the Nevada Tonopah area, which included some long asphalt sections. The longest was 60miles of asphalt in Baja on the way home. We just kept the speeds around 55mph. The weather was cool so that helped keep the temps down in the tires.
@madjack_7578 ай бұрын
I have a set of tubeless inserts but I havn't used them yet for the exact reason you're talking about. Since I do ride on the street a fair amount, I worried about the heat retention inside. You haven't had any issues though? Also, I've always wanted to ride in Baja!! How is it down there?
@michaelflores76578 ай бұрын
@@madjack_757 kzbin.infowO7B0Qvqbhk?si=O3eLTmm1ayVh6jQ_ Not sure if you follow these guys but some good info on mousses. The guys I ride with in Baja won't let me come on the dual sport rides w/o mousses. When I got home last week from two days in Baja I pulled a 4" nail out of the back tire. No issues! Baja is awesome! I just wouldn't travel alone and I'm not a big off the bike camper so I stay in hotels. Cross in Tecate and it's super easy to go back and forth. I've done a 5 day trip with West38 Moto on my 890 and some overnighters on the 501 and never had any problems there.

@@madjack_757I’ve ridden hundreds of miles on the road on my mousse tubes on my beta 430rrs. Never had an issue, they’re still holding up. I go 65mph a lot cruising on the highway. I haven’t ridden in any 100+ weather yet on them… but a lot of 90+ days with no problem. I’ve also never re lubed them like you’re supposed to and still have no issues. I’m going to get new tires here soon and I’ll see how they’re holding up. Either way though so far no issues, may just not last as long as if I didn’t ride on the road with them.

I haven't been up Kane Creek in a few years. It was fun watching you ride it. It is going to be fun to see you get over some of the shelves once you're climbing out of the canyon. Last time I ran it, the creek was around 2 ft deep. Made the trail hard to locate. Wasn't sure I was going to climb my way out and was very worried I'd have to turn around and work my way back in the dark. Fun trail.
@madjack_7578 ай бұрын
Oh wow!! I think the lower water levels made my time way easier on the trail!! A consistent 2ft deep would have made it wayy harder on me. I would’ve been stressing having to ride out at dark too..

Kane Creek is an awesome trail. First time I took my jeep up it I did it solo. Scared the crap out of me because it was not moderate. Great trail. There were places I'd hate to take my KTM up.
@madjack_7578 ай бұрын
It definitely had its challenges for sure!! I’m glad I made it through on the husky 🤟🏼 What was the most challenging spot for your jeep?
@squid1488 ай бұрын
The standard Husky/ KTM tool kit should have everything you’d need to do roadside maintenance. I always carry mine with me. Great video’s I’ve never had the chance to ride in Utah , but hope to someday. Your videos give a great insight into what to expect.
@madjack_7578 ай бұрын
Definitely get out to Utah!! Also, I am the 3rd owner of my bike and I do not have the original tool kit unfortunately.. Though, I have all of my own tools to do work on the bike! I just managed to forget the ONE tool I needed which I think is so ironic considering my amount of prep. But hey, it worked out lol!

I’m stoked you liked the video! I have a set of tubeless inserts, but I haven’t tried them yet! My biggest worry is overheating on the inside of the tire when I ride in street with the tubeless inserts. I would imagine having those I. South Africa would be a huge advantage though! What’s the riding like down in South Africa?

@@madjack_757 Hay dude, man your last video is aweosme. Sheez what a country you live in! Quick question, riding like you do (engine not reving high and going slower speeds in tech situations) every how many miles do you change the oil? Sweet man, have a cool weekend.

To add to some of the other comments about the mousse tubes, my rear is the equivalent of running 10-12psi and it’s awesome. I also ride solo sometimes and fixing a flat is no fun. I ride on the roads a ton on our trips that we do and I’ve never had an issue after probably 300 miles on the road. My tires are pretty well shot and I still get pretty great traction due to how low the pressure of the tire is. The only downside I see is that it costs more money, but it’s well worth the cost in my opinion. I should probably lube mine up more though. 😅
@madjack_7578 ай бұрын
Yeah my biggest worry with runnin the tubeless is riding on the street for long stretches but a few people now including you have told me that they seem to hold up alright! I might have to just try em out for a couple rides and see how they feel. Do you have to routinely go back and lube the tube insert?

I didn't record in Kane Creek this trip, I(we) were so spent and over heated form riding Behind the Rocks through Pritchett Canyon that I didn't even want the weight of the camera on my helmet... In fact, we took an hour nap in the shade of a pavilion at Chicken Corners before heading in. That rest and extra water made all the difference. Got to listen to your body out there....
@madjack_7578 ай бұрын
That sounds like a killer ride dude! I agree, you really really gotta listen to your body. I made that mistake on day one and burnt myself out way too much. Heat exhaustion is no joke in the desert.
