What were Spenser and Zack up to, exactly, stuck in Chiang Mai for most of a day? Where were they headed? Why Thailand?
--
No, this is NOT our latest On Two Wheels! If you’re keeping track, we at Motorcyclist like to bring you a new episode of OTW ‘round about the first Thursday of every month. Well, as much as we hate to admit it, this month we’re a little behind (there may or may not have been an accident involved).
But, because our tireless Video Producer, Spenser Robert basically never sleeps he was able to cut together this small slice of behind the scenes footage from a recent trip to Thailand, where he and Senior Editor Zack Courts traveled on assignment. It’s just a small segment of two-wheeled life in Thailand, seen from the perspective of two wide-eyed tourists on their way to competing in an international riding contest.
What were Spenser and Zack up to, exactly, stuck in Chiang Mai for most of a day? Where were they headed? Why Thailand? The freshest episode of On Two Wheels will surely reveal all. ‘Til then, we hope you enjoy this peek behind the production curtain, and it will hold you over until the whole story is presented next week.

If I can recommend anything on a year old video, there's the most amazing mountain road between Chiang Mai and Pai, 762 curves, 3-4 hours of non stop tight turns, hairpins, and just fun old twisties. It's a must for anyone going on a motorbike holiday in the north of Thailand. I would recommend a semi-auto or manual motorbike, Waves and Dreams are very cheap to rent in Chiang Mai, but if you want an Auto go for a 125 if you can, the Yamaha GT125 or Honda Click are good options which will be around the 200 baht mark, bigger scooters like the PCX or N-Max will easily be twice that price.

I am very impressed that you guys pulled that off .Even with your great riding skills you are not used to how the traffic reacts to you and each other in the east..It is like riding in a soccer game with no rules,, . I spent a weekend in Ho Chi Mighn City some years back (2005) and am still amazed I got out of there alive. (and I was in a taxi ) ..The % of motor bikes in Saigon is amazing .. The crazy thing is you will get 10K people meet in the center of the city and no traffic lights at any intersections ..They just all weave at 5 miles an hour .. You just keep going .. Did you see full families on big 350's ? I saw one family with the toddler on the handlebars the dad driving the wife with a new born on her front and two older kids sitting backwards on the back . 7 riders and no helmet to be seen .. THanks for the great clip ..ZAck I think it is safer on the track ..

Scooters are such a thing in Asia. Rare to see big bikes in the crowded cities. Hopefully you left the guy a Hamilton tip anyway - that poor rear tire!

Got into motorcycles because I folded a scooter against a guardrail in Phuket and despite that, my favorite (but expensive) day. Figured I should learn to ride before the next trip and got my license. This video reminded me of how fucking fun it was, great job!

You guys should come over and do some of the riding around Chiang Mai, maybe as an advert for moto-holidays (?), or just for lols. There's some great routes, such as the Mae Hong Son loop or the Golden Triangle. Thanks for making such awesome videos! We'd love to host y'all in Thailand if ever you're here again.
