Temescal is my go to trail, if you go down Palisades Drive you have an awesome descent all the way to the beach.
@FirstTimersCycling2 жыл бұрын
So would that be on the right of the fork at the part when we went straight instead? After talking to the hikers.
@rlake132 жыл бұрын
@@FirstTimersCycling yup, I did that trail once & never again. Yes go right at the fork, about 3-4 mile descent. I'm upgrading my sons hyper with 27.5 fork & finishing the brake upgrade. Waiting on a new 8speed freewheel to come so I can get rid of the twist shifter... Tuna cyn is also an epic descent

@@rlake13 Good to know! Need to try Palisades Drive to see how that is. I take it, it's possible to go back up this route as well so that would be better than looping around to Will Rogers and Backbone Trail. Man that Hyper is going to be a completely different bike!! 🤘🤙👍

check out the satellite tower and platform on stunt road. for the tower, you have to go through a fence and climb on top a super low easy building to get on, then climb the ladder... best view around by far. can see ocean, the valley, LA, everything around.

Nice thanks for the suggestion! Were not talking about Nike tower right?

Mad props to riding that hyper with no power, no more strava? Awesome video

Strava got jacked up due to no reception. GPS didn't work either. This happened again this last weekend when we rode Backbone Trail.

Took a tumble or two. I wiped on pavement doing 50 kph and that hurt. superman over the handles bars.

Ouch! That sounds painful, especially landing on pavement. We've taken some falls but on the dirt with some rocks lol. Gashed up but nothing compared to landing on pavement. Glad you're okay!

Awesome video like always guys. One question tho. With tour bbshd do you break alot of master links. Cause I been through 4 already within a year. And I only commute 24 miles a day. And it's always the master link that breaks. Just wondering!
@FirstTimersCycling2 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it! With over 500 miles on Alvin's BBSHD, he has only snapped the chain once. I've snapped my chain as well but none of us at the master links. We're not using an ebike specific chain either so not exactly sure why you're experiencing this. Do you recall when it snaps? Like are you climbing or just level ground riding when it happens? Also what chainring and cassette size are you using? It's funny, since the BBSHD install, Alvin was consistently getting flat tires lmao. So far on 2 of our last rides he hasn't been but it was almost every ride lol.
@mr.raiders70292 жыл бұрын
@@FirstTimersCycling I'm using stock 46t chainring and mostly I start in 32t down to 11t max speed and only ride flat ground on my commute. I use a kmc ebike rated chain and never have problems with the chain just the kmc master links. It happens after about 100 miles of riding or so. It's no big deal I keep a bunch of spares in my bike bag just in case. Also watching your videos I was like bro, I use the same exact tires and I've never gotten a flat tire. I run over sharp rocks on the ground, deep pot holes, a couple of times over glass to not by choice. Lol. But I think he should go tubeless. But either way was just wondering and keep up the riding, enjoy all the scenery you guys show. Hopefully you'll visit las vegas soon and would love to go on some trails with you guys Here.
@FirstTimersCycling2 жыл бұрын
@@mr.raiders7029 Interesting... yeah that boggles me why the master links are snapping for you. We're both using KMC chains with the KMC master link that came with it. Yup spares are always good to carry! LOL yeah been telling Alvin to switch to tubeless or get some of those reinforced tubes from Slime or other known brands. 🤣 Appreciate the support and if we ever visit Vegas we would love to ride on some trails with you! If you haven't already, follow us on FB or IG so we can DM you!

Dudes, if you are going to pedaling hard a hard for an extended period of time, raise the darn saddle. For that matter you can leave the seat at optimal height except for the steep downhills. And why they came out with the dropper post. I’m getting a PNW suspension / dropper post for my hardtail as soon as I can sell some crap on Craigslist. The expensive suspension posts are that much alone. The least expensive decent Suntour’s are $80 ? Also noticed some of you could use knee pads. I’m from the Valley and at this point I’d trade the Portland rain for dry dusty trails. Getting tired of hosing off bike with frozen hands....
@FirstTimersCycling2 жыл бұрын
Hello! Alvin needs to replace his dropper as the cartridge is malfunctioning and won't hold while seated. But yes, you are correct, saddle up for uphills and saddle down for steep downhills. I'm using an inexpensive KS Eten-R dropper seatpost. It works for the most part but I don't like the design of the remote lever. Lol knee pads for sure, and better tires on that Walmart ebike 🤣. Raphael is being cheap lolol. Man you're a die hard rider, riding in the blistering cold. Mad props!

@@FirstTimersCycling If I ever get back to LA for a visit I want to go to the top of Lanark St. I. Sun Valley / Burbank and take the fire road from there to La Canãda. Is the Gilda in the right place ? I’m a Reyes, I should know, but I do t know Spanish. It’s embarrassing. Oh, you need a driver to shuttle...
@FirstTimersCycling2 жыл бұрын
@@stevenreyes3680 Haven't ridden there yet so I'll need to do some research on the place but it sounds appealing! With ebikes we may not need a shuttle! 🤣
@stevenreyes36802 жыл бұрын
@@FirstTimersCycling You May not. Check it out. We used to come down Lanark St. on our Stingrays in ‘65 doing like 40mph. If the light at Glenoaks changed, we’d slam on the brakes and skid. And flat spotted the tires. Though the smell of burning rubber was cool. So going to the bike shop for the third time, the old gal behind the counter said, what don’t you get these knobbies instead of those slicks and do the fire roads ? Ok. So we were doing off road before Gary Fisher.
