We experience the Beijing metro... Having experienced the super modern Shanghai metro, which is arguably the most modern metro in the world.
We take a hop on China's metro - take a look at how the station looks, the trains feel and the price of a train ticket.
We compare it to prices in the UK.
🏨 For all our hotels in China, we booked them through Trip which we genuinely found the best rates on, check out special rates here: trip.tp.st/foePpxV4
🚆 Looking for trains in China? We bought all our trains in China through Trip - it’s not only the most straightforward but it offered the best rates here: trip.tp.st/foePpxV4
📲 the CHEAPEST and BEST eSim company, we've used this brand consistently in China, Europe and they offer deals across the world - they're always half the price of the other eSim brands: mobimatter.com/#a_aid=VEGGIES...\
📱 Alternative eSim option from this global Singaporean brand, not as cheap as the above, but well known and we've used them comfortably: airalo.tp.st/bLtrbxV8

We decided to go travelling and ended up living getting stuck in Malaysia during 2020 which spurred the creation of this channel, we're now back on the road after a lengthy hiatus!
We're Malaysian enthusiasts who enjoy discovering spots off the tourist trail and don’t like taking ourselves too seriously. We're not here to be vloggers or to be famous, we're not necessarily here to "inspire" anyone to travel either - just enjoy the spontaneous fun of it, weird situations and of course making local friends.

When I heard Pat say " I don't like to film the security check because I am not in my own country and I don't know what the rules are", I was persuaded to subscribe to their channel. Clearly, they are civilized, respectful travellers who don't take liberties with another country's norms. 👍 Thumbs up from the UK where public transport is very costly in comparison.

I have met a young couple in Thailand recently. They were from US and flow to Singapore and they were traveling from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and then to Cambodia and Vietnam and before going back to US. We have happened to have a casual friendly conversation and I have asked them since they are so near to China, why not go to China just for a few days to see China. I told them China is very interesting. But I was surprised of what they told me. They said according to all their media reports in US and advice by their government and many other people. They were advice and told not to travel to China. Even their parents don't allow them to go to China. They were told China is not a safe country to travel. Very dirty, poor rundown infrastructures, poor transportation system, polluted, homeless people are everywhere waiting to rob tourists are common even in broad daylight. Chances of been detained for no reason by the Communist government is very high. Because China is an authoritarian state and all foreign visitors are monitored by thousands of cameras everywhere and every minute where foreign visitors go. Foreign visitors from western countries can be detained for months or even years for no reason. All these is what they know about China. The couple is like below 25 years of age and already so badly brainwashed by their government and controlled media. This is really sad.

Chinese People are equally friendly, and no matter where you are from, we treat you as our guests. We just hate the western politicians who lied to their people. For a long time, escalators in China used to stand on the left side and rush on the right side. Two years ago, it was still like this. But two years ago, there was an elevator accident caused by severe wear and tear on one side of the escalator. The elevator company also stepped forward and said that it is not recommended to stand on one side of the escalator. So now in many cities in China, the government does not force citizens to abide by this controversial moral code.

Everything in the subways is bilingual and standardised throughout China. In the Nordic countries, an one-way bus ticket costs about 27 CNY. BTW, Beijing was the first city in China to build a subway line. FYI, China has now 310 subway lines with a total length of 10274 km in 54 cities. Wow, what a high-tech vending machine! Hello Pat & Giulia~ Thank you for sharing such a nice video. There are some comment said that you've been overcharged for the two drinks of 60 yuan. Actually, there is a misunderstanding. Please allow me to explain it to you. First, the lady didn't cheat you on the price. She list the price in the store as well as the Mei Tuan app which is an app for people to search and order food in the Internet. The price I can see is just what you paid. 30 yuan per cup. The drink is called"Gui Hua Lao Zao". It's a kind of rice alcohol mixed with sweet osmanthus jam and water. Second, there is a huge price difference among China. For example, a bowl of noodle in Beijing is around 50 yuan while the same one in Xi'an is just about 25 yuan. Some people didn't realize that. They judged the drink's price by comparing with their local price. Third, the store is famous in the social media areas for its handmade foods and drinks. I can see many post and introduction in different apps. I think this is the major reason why the price is a litte higher. That's all. Hope it can help you.

I feel that the blogger is very concerned about not photographing the police. Sincerely, it doesn't matter. Just treat them as passers-by. With the exception of crowded areas such as airports and train stations, where armed police are deployed for fear of security incidents, most of the uniformed guys you see on the streets are unarmed. They don't bother you for no reason, especially if you look like a tourist. And you are. In fact, a thin guy like me, but walking like a soldier, is more likely to be cross-examined. Because the guy is too thin, and at the same time seems to have military training, in China, it is more likely that he was once thrown into prison for drug use. Incredibly thin is unacceptable in China, and it's hard to see a guy on the street who doesn't have enough to eat.

If KZbin is professional, other bloggers come to China with Chinese and English subtitles, and you don't even bother to add subtitles. Haha, did you know that KZbin discriminates against Chinese? All the subtitles are available, but only Chinese can't use any font

yet we don't see people demanding an answer from their media and their government since their freedom and democracy has been clearly played like a toy. so how serious they are about these values, it's worth a ponder but regardless China will still welcome people and fulfil what's supposed. or maybe i'm very wrong, we just need to wait.

asking for privacy in public places itself is utterly idiotic and self-contradictory, in China, we would ask such a question to those who think like this: are you a potential criminal or something? then why are you so afraid of security checks and CCTV in public places?

To be honest, I have watched a lot of videos about foreigners traveling in China, only this couple with basic respect for China, without saying "I thought there was something wrong with China, I didn't expect China to be so good." I feel that the bloggers who say such things are biased against China before they come here and feel that it is not so good, so the expectations are also low. Nor have they always emphasized how much they like China, to make a comparison, "China is good in a certain aspect, and a certain country is bad in this aspect." . This is very good, foreigners do not need to love this country, as long as they break the prejudice, harvest a wonderful journey, and will share with their family and friends to introduce China, it is enough.

I beg to differ. I like bloggers to be surprised that they have been lied to about China all their lives. I want to see all those biases disappear. That's why I like to see those expression. It is priceless. You don't have to like China but you don't have to hate China because of all those lies propagated by Western media and politicians. Unfortunately, most of the audiences in all these China'a videos made by travel bloggers, are Chinese or Overseas Chinese. Not many have reached the non Chinese audience judging from the comments. I hope I am wrong.
