Heah guy I own a 2013 FJR1300"a" model and love it. I bought it in the summer of 2013 with 2832 miles on it and now have nearly 67,000 miles on it. I'm closing in on my 63rd birthday now and still riding an enjoying it. BTW, in August 2015 I took a trip from Atlanta to Salt Lake City, the Grand Tetons and back. Coming back through Colorado I rode through Loveland, Pass, and wow what an experience. I'd never ridden that high up on such unprotected roads. The following year I took a trip that lasted 20 days and covered 7835 miles. I had a 952 mile day, and was 56 years old. My FJR is my Japanese mistress. I've never regretted buy it. I've owned 11 motorcycles in my 45 years of riding, and that included a BMW k1100. I'd take the FJR any day hands down over any BMW. The cost of owning a Beemer to keep it running is ridiculous, and I think any performance or refinements advantage the Beemers might claim is offset by the cost of owning it. I've done all the maintenance on my Yamaha myself including the one valve clearance adjustment it actually needed at 53,000 + miles. Yamaha specs checking the valves every 26,000. At the first interval I checked them and they were all good. The next one I did at just over 53,000 and I changed shims in four of the sixteen valves , and they were just barely out of tolerances. It's a great machine and that's coming from a 32 year airline mechanic.

My father still has his 2003 FJR, I sold the silver 2010 FJR. Looking for something more dual sport for this season, possibly a Tenere 700. Maybe one day I’ll go back to a FJR, great bike for long distance travel.

Been up there 4 times on a motorcycle....1st time on a '71 Honda CB750. Didn't need reservations back in the 70s. View is incredible from the top. Walking the last few feet of elevation gain I knew I wasn't at sea level. 😅

This is Awesome! Snowing in July! Welcome to Colorado

I recall crossing Loveland pass in July, 1972. It was raining, except for the last 500’, it was snowing at the pass. That road has no guardrails either and it was a major thoroughfare. Looking down from the top and along the way was daunting and awe inspiring. The Washington tunnel was under construction at the time.

Nice video. I was there in the summer of 1987 on a trip from Toronto, Canada (on a 1982 Honda GoldWing Interstate. I have an FJR1300 now.). It's changed a lot. It was free back then. To be honest, I don't remember seeing most of the ride because it was raining fairly heavy on the ride up. Visibility wasn't the best. But I do remember the condition of the pavement.

*_How cool. I didn't get to ride Mt. Evans while I was in Colorado, but I did get Pikes Peak. I can't believe how torn up the road is. Those goats blend in kinda hard to see them. The ones in Northern Nevada are Bright White. Excellent Ride. Thanks for sharing with us._* 👊

That flyover was pretty cool. The road may not be in great shape, but a cool ride for sure. They are starting to do the permit thing on roads around here as well. Kind of sucks, but helps keep parking and traffic a little better when you do go to them.

You would almost think that they would put that admission fee to good use for maintaining the road. Charge admission, and do not maintain the road is basically stealing.
