I’ve been cycling since the start of 2020 and it’s great to see other riders and what their gear is etc. I cant go out without lights on and I was surprised to see you both without any on! I wish I could get my better half to entertain joining me and she could get the bug too! I started of on a cheap old MTB then upgraded to a 2nd hand road bike. Ended the year with 1k miles on Strava. Currently on about 600miles for this year. I’m going further for longer all the time and I’m loving it. Your a great inspiration, (I’ve seen your earlier uploads). Keep up the good work! From a 43year old trying to regain my fitness!

I agree... except the best off road stuff in the Peaks is well beyond a gravel bike. We used to ride it with a 28-28 granny, cantilevers and rigid forks BITD so it's doable... but wouldn't recommend it.

I tried the cycling maven (?) way of getting a bike in a car: back seat still down with a long cloth on the seat part, no front wheel, rear wheel in first, hoik it along...turn handlebars - and lift them towards roof of car. Ford Fiesta. Medium frame bike. I rocked up at a bike shop and they couln't believe it! And, so secure with also the front wheel. Getting your pedals correct is what counts. Thanks for the vids.

Question from me is what day was there? I AirBnb'd down to Macclesfield on Friday night and rode all day Saturday. It certainly was not warm - although after climbing up Winnats I was positively sweating like a pig - before shivering a few minutes after. Gotta love the Peaks, I think it must all be my 3rd visit this year. Hope to go again before the end of the year - depending on whether or not we can actually have a dry weekend!

We have loads of public foot paths and many bridleways. An ordnance survey map will show these paths and bridleways. Most are well signposted. Just google public foot paths U.K. for a breakdown about the laws. Hope this helps a bit.

Yeah, Mam Tor is the hill (aka 'The Shivering Mountain'!) and Mam Nick is more of a feature. It also gives its name to the fairly challenging road climb up from Barber Booth/ Edale!

You drove from Manchester area to the Peaks? Seriously? One cycles out there, rides them and rides home.... or at least one did when one was your age. Most epic ride I ever did was a 60 miler from Manchester to my parents' place in Barnsley the long way round, by MTB and using as little tarmac and taking in as many tough off-road climbs as possible. That was after a lunchtime Rusholme curry. God I wish I was 23 again....
