The struggle is real lol. I’ve had days in that bus. That thing woulda drove me nuts 😂. Hang in there, you’ll get it worked out👍🏻

I think I got an idea 🤔 Uncle Jim gave me some dimensions from a different brand of pilot that I think I can make work! Stay tuned 😂

I've been eyeing getting one of these... just never had the $$$ to invest. I hope you get it working for you. One suggestion is to try using unsized brass to do it. Would help a lot with the process I think.

My only concern with that is inconsistent neck diameters. Idk. We’re gonna try a Forster pilot and see what that does.

Now the name Tinman makes complete sense!

I looked at a bunch of different setups when researching for 8.6bo. Arfcom had a bunch of people talking about it but it was mostly shyt talking. I didn’t get a warm fuzzy feeling, especially because of the cost if you decide to try another way you’re practically starting over. Appreciate the information!!!

I think with a Forster pilot that doesn’t do the inside reaming, this will work much better. Waiting for it to get delivered and I’ll post an update! Thanks, Jeff.

TM I decided to start looking myself for a unit. My situation is a bit different but similar. I want to turn 308 win into 35 rem. Now my situation requires a bit more effort however essentially the same. Ooooh if I was a millionaire…..I think I would get a idod lol if you haven’t heard about it just do a quick KZbin search of the idod neck turning machine. Next would have to be the 21st century setup after that the K&N set up and finally this tool called a Pumpkin neck turning tool. All of them are so expensive it’s not even funny. My situation however calls for another tool to reform the extraction grove. The harbor freight mini lathe seems to be my best option. What I’m seeing is these neck turning devices are not a budget friendly procedure. If I were you I would check out K&N there tools really seem good.

I’ll check those out! Yeah, unfortunately it’s hard to get cheap and good both when it comes to turning necks. Lemme know what you come up with! A lathe would be AWESOME.

My Trim Pro seams to barely be able to hold 223. It holds it, but not as good as my other calibers. That seams to be a very odd design. Too bad they dont just put a standard pilot in that doesn’t cut or neck down. At least you have access to make one.

I wish there was a way you could increase the tension on the springs on this. But I think the Forster pilot will work with this. We’re gonna find out! Thanks, OBS.

I don't get why it does both inside and outside ? Should you be doing fire formed cases instead of sized ones ?
@unclejim23309 ай бұрын
Yes, on my Forster anyway.

They probably want you to use an expanding mandrel and all that crap. I’m not doing that. We’re working on a fix for it!

(IMO) without annealing the brass is too hard for the cutter and the shell holder cant take that sort of torque causing a slight bit of wobble that you can't see. I have never cut brass from cut cases, only squared up necks that were already formed from the factory So.. My opinion my be invalid as advice of what's going on there with that. Hope you figure it out dude, peace Man, - Dave
@TinManReloading9 ай бұрын
I agree, annealing probably would have helped. We’re gonna get this sorted out. Thanks, Dave!

Hi tinman what a headache that tool is that is weird how that mandrel has two sizes I don’t get it why cut inside and out on the same time it should be like the hand tool outside only I have a hornady and it does outside only hope you get that fixed thanks for sharing have a wonderful day
@TinManReloading9 ай бұрын
I agree. It shouldn’t do inside and outside both. I have an idea on how to fix it though! Thanks, Julio!
@ThecrazyScotsman9 ай бұрын
No clue on this one but I understand struggling with various processes we always learning. Kinda odd it does inside and outside as others have stated would think only be outside
@TinManReloading9 ай бұрын
Yeah, I’m gonna try a different pilot and see how that goes. Thanks, Scotsman!
@unclejim23309 ай бұрын
Why the inside and outside? 🤷♂️

Because it’s innovative. Which is another word for CRAP 😂
