Might just be preference but why not just stay in second and just use the front brake more rolling in. Or am I totally wrong here and you could have stayed in first since your on a 1k. I’m still new to canyon riding and on my z900 I just stay in second that’s why I asked. I ride in Colorado mountains

I do like second gear when I’m riding through it but sometimes I go into first to have more engine brake. It is all personal preference however but do what feels right.
