In this episode, I am riding from Kargil, in Ladakh, to beautiful Srinagar, Kashmir. To get there, I have to get over the Zoji Pass, and I end up in the largest military convoy I have ever seen in my life..

Let me clear who are confused for military trucks. This road to kargil specially built for military vehicles movement by Border road organisation and EME, a branch of indian army. There are approximately 100-150 trucks with 2 army men in each. These trucks are use for logistics of daily vegetables, milk , ration, grocery, suppliment for personal and their families who deployed in region. These are also use by EME for construction purpose like building bridges and engeneering things. I remember when there was landslide on Jammu highway, my father's unit feed thousands people who were stucked in that blockage and i was there in army residential area near chenab river .

I've always wondered it must have been like leaving India and finding yourself in Macclesfield or Slough, with the rain and the soot etc. It must have been a huge come-down. Off the top of my head Joanna Lumley was born in Kashmir but moved to the UK at an early age.

@@AshleyPomeroyWell those people stole lot of money from India. Posting to India was a dream job for many colonizers because that meant that they would come back with a lot of plunder. So who cares what they felt. They probably stole enough for a couple of generations and build estates in Britain. Anyway they were worse than the worst of N*zis in Germany and their plunder and crimes against humanity should be exposed to the world.

Having "traveled" with Itchy Boots for several years, I think this ride made me almost as nervous as her early travels in Bolivia when she had to decide whether or not to cross the stream crossing the road. And the view over Noraly's left shoulder at 12:28 that showed all the "fill" pushed over the side to make the road nearly took my breath away. Great footage of the ZojiLa. The reason for the heavy military presence is that the road you biked near Kargil was the scene of heavy fighting in 1999 between India and Pakistan. I motorcycle in south Louisiana and often struggle to find even a usable public restroom or other accommodations. But now I laugh when others in my country complain about their hardships because you are showing how beautiful the world is and how little it takes for others to be very happy. Perhaps someday we will see a compilation of some of your experiences on the big screen.
