The whole having to live in it for 5 years is the problem. I wonder if you can let someone rent it for the 5 years or if it has to be the person trying to own it. My girlfriend and I did a 3250 mile roadtrip around the rust belt and Indiana Illinois Detroit etc, Gary Indiana was the craziest place I’ve ever been. We wondered into the hospital, schools, various buildings, but nothing came close to that church. Walking inside the basement of a church that’s hundreds of years old looking at the decay was surreal. That was also the trip I got my misguided hoodie when I was in Chicago. Keep it up bro!

My mom's from Gary, my Dad from the southside of Chicago. I grew up around that area and I can distinctly remember Gary getting progressively worse and more desolate as I got older. It's really a memory of a town now and truly is sad. The way my mom describes it as a kid, it mind as well be a different planet. The outsourcing of production and environmental restrictions definitely were a huge detriment. I wish I had an answer or solution but I don't really know if there is one anymore. It's just sad man, I feel for everyone stuck there and wish them all the best in life.

I went to boot camp at MCRD San Diego during the summer of 1988 with a dude named Christoper Peterson. He said he was a former gang member from Gary, Indiana. On Black Friday I remember him crying like a baby saying that he wanted to go home. He turned out to be a pretty motivated recruit later on, I must say. I later learned he went UA and started shooting several people (deleting them) near Gary and the surrounding area with another dude while both of them were hopped up on whatever they got their hands on.
