Good video bro, I bought a pair of brass knuckle foot pegs from JP Cycles and was really discouraged when I saw they didn't fit. Now I know not to return them. Also, credit for changing the shifter peg too. Needed a video on that.

Hey what forward controls do you have? Are they the Harley Davidson ones or aftermarket

I just ran into the same problem with trying to fit new footpegs on my 48... thanks for the video man, a great help! (I have managed to lose one of those little C clips though 😣) Are you using the grinder just to almost sand it down to shape rather than cutting anything off?
@ridingdigital4 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful, yes I'm grinding the square shape into a rounded shape so the peg fits on. That grinder cut through the metal like butter so just took it bit by bit. Good luck!

Are there replacement black clevis mounts that you can purchase instead of grinding these?

What did you use to protect the bit you cut from rusting ? How has it lasted ? Can you suggest something to buy to protect it ?

Nice video! And 48! Ran into the same issue lol, do you happen to remember what disk you used? Seems to have been the perfect one for the job.
@ridingdigital4 жыл бұрын
thanks bud, it was a diamond cutting disc from memory 👍🏻

Yup!.. just discovered this for my 2016 48. Of course I figured this out AFTER I had already ordered my new pegs. Thanks for the vid. I unfortunately do not have a decent grinder. Going see if I can find some Dremel attachments.

I did exactly the same thing, only found out after. Worth the effort though, good luck with the Dremel! RD

Riding Digital Bit late now but for future reference, the clevise is steel and not cast iron, a junior hacksaw will cut it easily..

Add me to the list. Had the same issue 4 hours ago. Why Harley decided to make those offset mounts on the 48 model when the rest of the line-up has utilized matched length mounts for, oh I don't know, the last 75 years! My parts guy theorizes they were engineered to add extra strength taking into account the nature of forward controls. I don't know. Have had other bikes with FC that got along fine with standard mounts. I couldn't bring myself to grind on a month old '21 so I went ahead and ordered a set of mounts that fit an earlier 48, no extended front edge. $90 from HD. And screw that c-clip. I'm tossing the pin in favor of a good old fashioned stainless bolt & nylock.

with the changes you've made ie exhaust & air filter,have you tuned/mapped your bike?
@ridingdigital7 жыл бұрын
+teddd10 yep, had to remap and tune, it was unrideable without. I used a Vance & Hines FP3 tuner. Real simple, plug in, install the app on your phone and it autotunes via bluetooth as you ride. I'll look at doing a video on using it soon if it would be useful. RD

Riding Digital yeah mate I've flashed the selected map from the fuelpak myself. waiting for the rain to stay away to plug in and comnence an auto tune mode. great piece if kit 👍

Use some bluing liquid to protect the grinded surface.
@Scottish_Viking845 жыл бұрын
Lol, the back yard is right there... should have been using the grinder outside. Also, should have modified the peg instead of taking a grinder to your bike.
@ridingdigital5 жыл бұрын
Sadly there is no way to get the bike into the garden, a 1ft drop from the garage door. The piece on the bike I'm grinding is the clevis, they just screw in and can be replace for about $20, where as the pegs were $100! I did have loads of little bits of metal to sweep after so worth doing outside if you can 👍🏻
