hey yes loving it! within 8 days of ownership I already had 1000kms on the odo and got the first service done a few days ago. still waiting on the included bash plate and hand guards to come from the dealership so I can finally get some dirt on it without breaking a lever the first time I drop it :) I went with the DR because it's the best dual sport bike ever made ;) I was wanting to get something which will last me until the end of LAMS so I thought going for something with more power like a 650 would be a better investment, as well as it being capable of more aggressive off-road riding I live in Sydney so if you guys ever want an extra riding buddy let me know!

I use to love riding in the local woods. Seeing how fast I cold go. And narrow of a space between trees, I could fit my Handle Bars through. Sometimes I didn't fit. That's when I found out. Harry ,I use a cramp buster on my throttle too. Helps on the road. Liss ,does the DR feel like a big improvement on the technical stuff?
@RidingOnEggshells4 жыл бұрын
Liss: For sure it does! Getting up hills is much easier. and descents a lot more controlled. Can't ignore that the tyres I had on the Himalayan were totally inappropriate for the terrain, so she could have done better, but she'd never be as capable as a DR when the going gets tough.
@livewire..4 жыл бұрын
Did Harry lower both the rear and the front end for you? From your video, it appears he only lowered the rear. If this is true the bikes steering geometry (rake and trail) are now incorrect and will make the bike more difficult to steer. The front is lowered by undoing the fork pinch bolts and letting the fork tubes slip upwards about 1 - 1.5 inches to match the rear. Note: The side stand may need to be shortened or replaced with a shorter piece.
@RidingOnEggshells4 жыл бұрын
Liss: Harry took on a bit of advice that if I only wanted the inch lower, it should still be fine just lowering the bolt and seeing how it handled before committing to changing out the stand. It seems to ride well like this (though I admittedly am no expert), but I'm doing a bit more reading into it after your message.
@mattburge95593 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, what headlight are you running on that DR? Is it a whole assembly upgrade, lens or just a bulb?
@kevinnashskitchen35173 жыл бұрын
What would you end up with as far as a static ground clearance on the DR after lowering? Have you actually measured ground clearance without a rider and without adding any suspension upgrades to stock lowering?
@kentuckyjustice14084 жыл бұрын
If her bike is still a little too tall, I put Soupy's Adjustable Lowering Links on my DR650. I'm a little vertically challenged, with a 30 inch inseam.
@RidingOnEggshells4 жыл бұрын
Liss: Trying to keep as much height as I can, as we're about to install a centre stand and hoping to keep good clearance. I'm only a touch away from having both feet flat at the minute, and trying to work on my confidence and technique. But will definitely take a look at the links in case I decide I want to be a bit more planted - thanks!

Riding On Eggshells Poor little bugger. All his mates have been barbecued...! But I notice that there’s no fire damage where you were, and it’s very wet right now. I also noticed you guys are considerably more relaxed about social distancing there. What is the general attitude to the government’s response to the plandemic?
@RidingOnEggshells4 жыл бұрын
Liss: Hey - I don't think there was too much fire in the Watagans compared to other places. At least I haven't seen any recovering forest there, while it's still very obvious in a lot of other places around Sydney. There has happily been quite a bit of rain this Autumn and Winter (at least here in the coastal areas), so trails everywhere looking nice and muddy. There wasn't really any Covid in NSW when we took this video, so everyone was pretty relaxed. Victoria had just started to see a few cases, but nothing up here. A week later (our next trip out) they suddenly announced the Crossroads pub cluster in Sydney and started putting restrictions on pubs here. Even now, in NSW they seem to be keeping the spread pretty contained without too many strict restrictions. Our premier did just recommend people should wear masks in busy places a couple of days ago (I've ordered some a few weeks ago just in case, but not arrived yet). I think people are nervously watching the daily numbers here to see if things start heading in the direction of Victoria. Don't think people would mind us going into a lockdown if there was signs of spread as the first one worked super well for us, and Victoria is looking like an absolute disaster right now. The sooner we stamp out the transmission, the sooner the borders reopen, which is good news for our bike trip plans!
@G584 жыл бұрын
Riding On Eggshells Thank you Lis. I guess you’ve been very lucky. Wearing masks can of course be harmful to your health: breathing carbon dioxide reduces the amount of oxygen in your system. Ultimately it can damage your immune system. That’s what the WHO was saying until they changed their minds after ‘political pressure’. Check out corbettreport dot com if you’re ready to learn what it’s really all about. Stay safe Peace
@RidingOnEggshells4 жыл бұрын
@@G58 Harry: I'm not to sure about that. People in Asia have worn masks as a matter of habit for decades (if you ever go through places like Hong Kong or Korea you'll see people wearing them a lot), and surgeons and nurses routinely wear them for hours on end. I've even seen an article from a doctor who ran for 10kms to test their blood oxygen. I'm curious though, what's the objection to wearing them? I get the impression that 'they're bad for you' is a secondary objection, what's the primary objection?:
