I totally feel you about being stuck behind tourists. I do a few drives per year from Phoenix to different parts of southern Utah to go backpacking so I build an extra 20 mins into the estimated drive-time. I actually avoid the drive through monument valley now because every time I've done it there are people just standing around ON the highway.

Moab, Utah, truly one of the most special areas in North America, first visited in the late 70's on motorcycle and many times in the 80's. Following on Google Earth, amazing how it has changed, so glad I got to see it in the old days...AND, there's a HUGE amount to see without 4 wheel drive...

I have camped and hiked around Moab in 1992,1994 and1997 in the Slickrock campgrounď on the north end of town. It's now changed beyond all recognition. Used to be a quiet adventure seekers stop. Like everything these days I guess, they call it progress. As an English oldtimer now, preferred the old Moab.

I used to work with a dear lady at Denver Architectural Precast in Henderson CO and she married a guy back in the 50s, that grew up near Moab, and they would go jeeping out there on the plateau and discover all kinds of artifacts. They found a complete spear in one of those old stone structures leaning in the corner. They use to water their dogs at home with the pottery they would find and didn't realize the archeological value of that stuff. She said that stuff was everywhere and jeeped all over the plateau.

Like #71, been by that store lots of time but never stopped, we at one time travel to Price Utah from Morrilton Arkansas almost every year to see Linda's Grand Kids, Moab was always a stop for us to get good and cheap T'shirts, but last time we went it had become a much more tourist town than ever before and to costly, nice video and nice to see it in the spring time, we always went in Aug/Sept, once around Thanksgiving, TY for the Share, Later

I relate to your driving frustrations so much! One frustration I have is entering an interstate behind someone else and I see if they're gonna get up to posted speed and when they don't I go around! Just time I go to pass they speed up! Grrrr! Drivers!!! I retired from WDW in Florida after dealing with all that traffic for 40 years and we retired to the country side in our home state of Georgia! My wife and I wanted to go a road trip to Utah and thought by waiting until school started all the parks would be empty! Wrong! That was foreign tourist season and buses loads of them completely swamped everywhere we went so we went back home to our backwoods of Georgia and here we will stay! Thanks for the ride and putting up with the frustrating drivers so I can see the country letting you be frustrated!

Yup i was in Aurora outside Chicago and some guy got locked out of his truck and said he was waiting for a locksmith to come unlock it. I asked him if he mind me using my key because i drove a Freightliner too. I took keys out of my pocket unlocked it and told him cancel locksmith and he was like "what the fuck" lol! We was talking and i said i don't know for sure if (all) Freightliner keys will open all Freightliner trucks but i do know that a lot of the time they do. And he was like so "now i got to worry when i'm sleeping or out of my truck someone walking up opening my door with no problem". I told him to have the company he works for to get it changed to a newer lock because i then remembered that my key would (NOT) work on the newer Freightliners just the late 90's and early to mid 2000 models. He ask me if anyone has ever got into my truck, i said well not sure when its parked at the terminal but when i am out i have my two dobermans i have in there so if they was going to try my dogs probably changed their minds lol!

I owned a 1982 Lincoln Continental and a 1982 Mercury Capri. They both had a set of 2 keys and one of the keys in each pair would work on both cars. I forget which one, I think it was the door keys.

Wow! That was a great drive. I love that you moved the cam around. Something you probably don't want to do when driving on snow. I opened someones door once with my key. If I remeber right, they were both 60s or 70s GM cars. Freaked everyone out. GM only had a few hundred key patterns back then. I like the way that Volvo just pulls right up those hills. Lota power there. I forgot how many gears you have and do you ever shift it manually or can you even do that? You forgot the peace sign this time. Lol
