great to see you driving down Nellis Blvd. My sister and I drive up and down it a lot. You go down Craig to my nephew's house in North Las Vegas. He's retired USAF now 2 years. Was stationed at Creech AFB his last duty station. I'm enjoying watching you drive Vegas runs. Been up and down I-5 N many times going to Valley of Fire. Up Mt. Charleston several times via Lee Canyon or Kyle Canyon. It's a beautiful drive. First time there is snow on the Mountain my sister makes a BlackBerry Cobbler, a tradition she started when she was living in Tennessee where we were born and raised. Her son moved her out there so he could help her when she needed things done. She has been there 4years now and still hates it. Tried to get her to move down here with me in FL. but she "hated palm trees and sand" . First time I drove out to see her I told her I sure was glad she moved where there were NO PALM TREES OR SAND! Keep those wheels turning and the videos recording. You are a delight to listen to in your commentary...love it. Thank You

Dad was in the Navy. He started flying prop and retired flying jets. One time he flew from Key West to Michigan in a jet. He landed it at a small airport. As a kid I got to ride in it when he had to park it. He did a fly over when he left.

When they are taking off in the a.m. they always go out in pairs, first one then the other then a space then two more for 8 sets. When they come back in the evening same routine...pairs. My sister and I sit on her porch and watch them go out and come back. When the Thunderbirds are in practicing for their air show routines we go sit where you were watching and watch them do their whole routine. When our flyboys are doing Red Flag competitions we go watch them take off and come in. That is really interesting to see the jets from all different nations. If you get bored google Red Flag Competitions...they are twice a year. Safe travels.

Have you ever been frozen to the ground? It happened to me once. Thats all I needed to learn from. When stopping for lunch or nap and parking, sit for just a couple of minutes so your tires cool down and then pull forward out of the grooves the warm tires melted and created and then set your brakes. That also helps in the melting snow that collects around the brake shoes. You give it time to melt and then in pulling forward you allow the moisture that has collected between the shoes and drums can dry. I always carried a 3 lb hammer for when the drums and shoes froze together.

Those planes all have to turn 180 off the southwest end of their runway to avoid McCarran air space which is only about 10 miles south. So they all come over my house. Some days I can't hear myself think. When the B52s and the B1s go over they shake the house. Gets old after a while. I'm amazed by the comments how many people here watch your videos. You're an honorary citizen of Las Vegas now. Peace out!

The base you see just on the northern end of Nellis (Veteran USAF Nellis AFB 62-65) is the old US Navy munitions base now Nellis II...Still a munitions base but some years ago the Bureau of Federal Prisons added units....Don't know if the prisons still used or not...…...As said F-22's have two engines and F-35's have one, but you are right otherwise they looks alike.

Nice when you start up your morning looking at mountains. Funny, my cat, Cindy, was up on your dashboard when that other Quality Driver was pulling out. She was watching the traffic for you. Then she hopped down to her resting box (box for copier paper) on the floor and watched the F whatever jets. She knows those as she sees them here coming in and out of Travis (not very often, and when you do see them it is not always a good thing....fine when it is the air show). I learned some years ago that a childhood classmate was a pilot. This year I talked to his aunt and she told me he flew for United to China. In the Air Force he flew the F whatever at that time. She told me he did the air shows at Travis. Now it would be nice if he had a KZbin of that.

Why are downhill grades valued in percentages and not degrees?
@ridingshotgun12514 жыл бұрын
Good question.. not sure why..
@swithinbarclay47974 жыл бұрын
@@ridingshotgun1251 : It is definitely easier to track your math, when doing it in Percents. On a hypothetical Eight-Percent grade, for every 100 Feet of forward travel on that down-/up-grade, you'll be descending/ascending 8 Feet. Otherwise, with Degrees, you may have to use the more complicated forms of mathematics, such as Algebra, or Calculus. A long time ago, I was able to do Algebra, but I've lost the touch, and it's now actually more time consuming, to reconstruct all of the old equations.
@swithinbarclay47974 жыл бұрын
@@ridingshotgun1251 : Another good thing to remember, is that 100 Percent, is roughly the same as 45 Degrees. That sort of pitch, is extremely difficult, to impossible, for you to walk and-or remain standing. Gravity is very unkind to you, at this pitch.
