Great video! You are amazing really very daring! I have a question.... How do you descend a long mountain similar to the one in your video 6 to 8 percent with a "tanker trailer, set a doubles" carrying crude oil 100,000 pounds? You put out your chains on but my understanding is you NEVER apply your j-brakes. How do you descend nice and easy? You cannot use control breaking because of the liquid surge can affect the handling if your combination vehicle. So, I would really appreciate any suggestions you can provide, thank you so much!!

Love the rumble, growl and snarl of the truck diesel in this video. Much better than your previous videos. I drove in the snow in Colorado for 15 years in my younger days. You can get going but stopping and controlling speed is what its all about. I worry more about who is around me in the snow like you do.

cool video man, but, i live in canada, drive in snow 7 months a year, been 30 years and sometimes I still get freaked out in certain really nasty stuff. Im not a truck driver but people SHOULD be scared if they have no experience, especially if they are from nice sunny texas and they see a semi barrelling down on them in the rear view mirror. The only thing that helps you in those conditions is experience not some special courage you have, NOT lack of fear. Please don't tell people - don't be scared, just relax and do it...its a problem if you make it a problem- comon man...you said you were driving there/that road for 17 years, come drive an unknown road in those conditions up here, you will be taking it realllllll easy and sweating it also. Cool video though.

Rafal Luszcz. thanks for the pos.. I have not driven this road for 17 years.. just 8 -9 months of winter for that long stricktly in the mountains.. I was just encouraging people to relax because they undoughtably will be terrified and super slow as a natural response.. I am just saying to do the best you can to stay calm as possible.. that all.. but thanks for the input

There is several factors in this winter driving that he's doing. 1 he lives in that part of the country and has been driving in that kind of weather for 20 years. 2 more than likely he has been down this way many many times. 3 it depends on your weight the more weight the better. And one must remember when you're in this neck of the woods they get a dry snow not a wet snow. The speed limit signs from what I could see were for summer or winter. When it says 60 miles an hour one must go by road conditions. The four-wheeler may have hit a slick spot and scooted off the road that does not make him an idiot. For newcomers learning to drive in this kind of weather it pays to be very cautious it takes couple years to really get it pat down and sometimes being a little scared maybe a good idea. Try to always keep one side have your tractor and trailer on dry portion of road our we're you can see it has already been traveled on. I'm not taking away from his experience he is doing a good job but like I said it takes time be cautious. Me myself I drove for over 40 years I hope this has helped any newcomers good luck 😂

My ex was a truck driver for over 30 years even he made mistakes. And I rode with him for several months at a time and he was an amazing driver. But I have seen many truckers who keep going and don't pull over even though they're tired. Especially living in Texas having to drive on the country roads were there oil rigs are and their fracking most of those guys are on substance to keep them going with a lot of dangerous driving. So I'm glad you follow the rules but I can tell you not all truck drivers do.

Did he crash? No? Did he endanger anyone? Not that i could see. Is he still alive? YES. Has he been doing this for over 20 years? Yes! Is he driving too fast for the conditions? NO, he's moderating his speed based on the conditions unlike most other drivers who keep the same speed at all times and makes hard love with the brake pedal as soon as their vehicle steps out of line. Leave the mountains, you are not suited for them.

My trailer costs 300.000.00 so I’m going to be as safe as possible and if that means stopping that’s what I’m going to do. There is a thing called driving to fast for conditions. Your day will come thinking your all that. I do carry chains but I don’t chain up. I’ve been driving for 30yrs. So stay safe truck drivers.
@DavidHutson-pt5pe
@DavidHutson-pt5pe 5 жыл бұрын
Don't know what part of the country you operate in but if you drive in Colorado in winter, when the chain law is in effect due to the current conditions on whatever road you're wanting to travel, mostly the mountain passes YOU WILL CHAIN UP, or you'll get yourself a nice big fine, if you're caught trying to proceed without them, or you'll sit and wait for conditions to improve, or you'll try to find a way to turn around and try to find an alternate route with better conditions. There are times when the Highway Patrol will set up at the foot of a pass during a bad storm, and stop all traffic and they MAY require ALL vehicles, including 4 wheel drive cars and pickups to chain up before proceeding. You get used to it. It's just the way life is in those mountains.

Well I never thought of it but that's a really good question.. I think one of the trickiest ones is Douglas pass which I do have filmed.. one of the most dangerous one was Wolf Creek Pass.. Westside.. westbound after they bladed it. started to jackknife but was able to recover.. then there was a time between Kenosha pass and Fairplay CO.. I was hauling an empty trailer and there was super strong winds with snow blowing across the highway cars being blown off and I made it through with no incident that was absolutely amazing but that was a definite white-knuckle..

Lots of bragging and boasting going on here by "Mister Truck Driver". Going way too fast on that. Hit a frost heave at that speed and it's over the guardrail and into the canyon. If he was an independent driving his own rig, he wouldn't put the hammer down under those conditions. If he's driving for an outfit, and the owners see this video, he's probably out of a job.

Yeah because surviving isn't important... Also, not owning the truck is ever more reason to be careful as you would be fired for reckless endangerment of THEIR truck and then ditching it. If it's your truck then you only pay for repairs. If it's not your truck you pay with your job and a bad rep.
