These are so nerve racking for me, my daughter is same age as Alex. Quarter mile racing while that 55 is wiggling at half track is one thing. Land Speed is another animal and it gets me every time I watch. I know the car is safe or Alex wouldn't be out there. Alex gets to the shift to 2nd and I'm like, okay kid hammer down!

Alex, words can't explain how proud of you that I am. Being a girl, Dad . I love seeing women competing in a mostly male dominanted world. Like I told my 3 daughters, you can do whatever you put your mind to. I'm proud of all 3 of them, just like your Dad is proud of his daughter's.

I like the way everyone is working together and how easy you guys make it appear, I know it’s not but that is a credit to Megan’s superior videography skill. And Alex’s feel for the car is amazing! The difference between racing a big power shoebox on exotic fuel to a slicker gas powered small block on long runs is tough but Alex handles the it so well. And it would be so interesting to hear what David Freiberger said about the spark plug read!!! Good Luck Hot Rod Team!!

Loving the coverage of Speed Week. I know it’s easier said than done to film, edit and upload daily videos during an event like this, so your efforts are much appreciated Megan! Absolutely my favorite family in racing. Wishing you the best of luck for breaking the record, and looking forward to the next video! P.S. I agree with Nick about rules… I know they’re a necessity but sometimes they make my eyes roll so far back into my head that I can almost time travel Another P.S. - Are the Taylors planning to attend PRI this year in Indy? It would be awesome to meet ya’ll

Whenever I see a driver strapping in (and when I’ve been a slow driver, or pilot myself, I always think back to the Apollo crews and what they must have felt on the launch pad. All the thoughts of anxiousness (not anxiety) and wrestling with the knowledge that a clean run is a safe run, and that the driver is the one who (when all the building, tuning, testing and coaching are done) is alone with the machine to get it done.

Really good start, Alex makes her sponsors very proud to be associated with her and the family., Now let’s get a different tune to get more HP so you can go get the record you want. I think you will find that chasing these records is just as addictive as all the other racing you do except you only get a week per year to try to get the record.

Most annoying damn thing. He had no place getting in to her headspace, and especially not grabbing her hand and not letting go. Not a safety official, not a timing official, stay out of the drivers head and let them get the Pre-Race Visualisation Exercises done!! If you're the sort of person who religon is important for, you get the chaplin to do a group prayer for those who want to participate, After The Drivers Meeting. You do not get in the face of a competitor when they need to be focused on driving above 200mph!!!

In my view the passes were good, with the 2nd run being much improved over the 1st. I know that there was a fuel issue on the 1st run, until then though the run went good and smooth. The 2nd pass was a big improvement. I'm only a fan with no experience on salt, so this next statement comes from a very limited experience. I was very impressed when the car started to spin the tires as she was accelerating that she eased out of the throttle and let the tires get a good bite. The car control that Alex has is very acute and serves her very well. I can see why people and teams are eager to have her working with them.

Alex, you inspired my best friend's 18- yr old daughter to jump into hi '68 Mustang El Mirage land speed car for her rookie run last June! She went thru rookie orientation, nailed the bail out. And went for it on her rookie run! Loose dirts after 80 previous runners made the dirt slippery, so she spun before the finish! But she pulled the chute and safely stopped! And she is ready to try again on her next college-break! I will be watching you on the Live Stream this week to see how you go in that Car 462! I loved the 636 experience, as those are good friends of mine, and that was awesome too! All the Best Alex and team👍🏼😎

Think of each “flying mile” as a chance to qualify for one record. Has to be backed up in the flying mile in which you qualified.
