Hello, this is my first video after recording hundreds of KM of footage I kind of just got too nervous to upload anything until today. I'm not too sure what I'm doing but I do know I"m giving it a shot. Here's a so called "review" of the Ridstar Q20.

i live about 10-15 minutes (walking distance) from work. when i saw this video just now, i went ahead and ordered this bike on amazon. it’s hot as hell in California right now, and this bike is gonna make it a lot easier to get to and from work. nice video, man

Got mine about 4 days ago, have already put over 100 miles on it without incident. Managing the battery is definitely important to learn. When I'm commuting I stay on level 4 the whole time. Uses about half my battery to get there but I can charge it at work so that's fine (+-10mile ride). For pure range level 2 is just enough speed to get where you need to while being able to get back home. Level 1 barely uses any battery at all, but 11mph is pretty damn slow if you have places to be.

Yeah on setting 5 I can get to/from work on single trip with some battery available to make a short detour. Setting 3 does the round trip twice but I’m on literally 1 bar when I get home from the second trip

The only time my screen didn’t “work” was when I didn’t have the battery switch in the right position. My brakes sometimes squeal but only when it’s wet and I squeeze them way too hard because I goofed up and didn’t start braking earlier. There’s a good comment on this video or maybe one of the other ones where a subscriber mentioned a deal they got, I even pulled it up in one of my videos. So maybe check that out but I’d still continue to suggest the Q20

Depends on the speed I’m driving it. At top speed (50km/h) I’d say I get 25-30km on it with 0 peddling which is 1 round trip to work and 2 or 3 bars of battery left. If I drive on setting 3 (35hm/h) I get 2 round trips to work and 1 bar of battery left.

Great vid. I went with the Jansno X50 version 2. Mostly because of the turn signals. Since I work in Downtown Toronto they are basically a must. I bought the 17ah battery to go with the 14ah battery and just put one in my pack. With both batteries in the worst conditions flat out I got 64.5km or 40 miles range. When I corrected the speedometer as it was reading a little high, it does an honest 48km/h top speed. More than enough for downtown streets. Cost me $1299 for the bike shipped to my door after tax, and the 17ah battery was $350 with free shipping and no tax. So for $1699 total I have 31ah of battery and a pretty decent bike. I just switched out the silly knobby tires at 1800kms to some CST 20x4.0 inch big boat street tires and they are awesome. No more monster truck sound, smooth as butter and I've seemed to pick up a km or two in speed and it now seems to accelerate a little faster with the less rolling resistance.
@RoamingWithRomain
@RoamingWithRomain 3 ай бұрын
Nice! I was looking at the Jasno myself but when/where I was shopping they seemed more. Looks like you got a better deal than me since mine was $1700 after taxes but no shipping. So yeah less Ah but a slightly higher top speed, let’s face it the extra 5kmh I’m getting doesn’t matter much, as for range I’m probably getting 25km at flat out speeds too. Congrats on your ride and great deal!

@@RoamingWithRomain I did a test on my odometer and it's 10% too low, so the true range with both batteries is 71km with that range test. I found a way to calibrate both the speed and the odometer. Basically P06, the wheel diameter controls the odometer, P18 is a speed correction percentage. So say you are a couple of kms too fast you can set P18 to say 95% so that the speedometer is 5% slower to calibrate the speedometer more accuratly. I'm going to do a whole video on it this week. Maybe tomorrow after work. I recently put some big boat street tires on and I got 42.5Km true with the 17amp battery so it seems that low rolling resistance street tires do indeed increase range as I got 37.5km with those damnable knobbies.

Yeah turns out I had my wheel size to 23 when it should be 20 so my top speed is actually 46km/h as per the dash. Have yet to GPS verify but it certainly feels closer to what it should be doing.
@chrissinclair8705
@chrissinclair8705 3 ай бұрын
@@RoamingWithRomain Actually that sounds a little low. Maybe put the wheel diameter to 22. Just use a GPS and go up and down as you need to. I ordered a new display for my bike that is way better hopefully it's more accurate. Like when every shit cell phone on the planet has a GPS accurate to tens of meters they can't come up with an accurate speedometer and odometer? WTF?

Couple questions for ya, 1: do you leave your bike locked up when at work? 2: are you able to change the speed on the screen to kilometres instead of miles? 3: what kind of helmet do you wear? 4: on the highest speed setting how long would you say the battery lasts?
@RoamingWithRomain
@RoamingWithRomain Ай бұрын
1. I have a back room in store it in at work. 2. The speed on the screen in my videos is currently set to Km, but you can change between the two in the settings. 3. I wear a full face downhill racing helmet, going in town speed limit speeds mean I’m not trusting a normal bicycle helmet. 4. Going fullspeed 99% of the way not peddling I get around 30 minutes out of it.

I wanted this bike to work out so bad for me with the price being so low. Unfortunately you're going to have a really really hard time finding break pads for this bike and from what I've heard this bike burns through pads fast
@RoamingWithRomain
@RoamingWithRomain 4 ай бұрын
I just broke 600km on it and mine are still holding strong. If getting new pads turns out to be that much of a hassle/expense it’s pretty easy to just install a new name brand kit from shimano for $100 and continue on with something just as good if not better.
@805Dak
@805Dak 4 ай бұрын
@@RoamingWithRomain Let me know how that turns out
@RoamingWithRomain
@RoamingWithRomain 4 ай бұрын
Will do. But let’s be honest most other name brand bikes with the same specs cost 2-3x more than this bike. Even if OEM brake pads are an “unreasonable” price of $50 like I see on eBay I’d need to have gone through 30ish sets to make up the price difference. I could literally replace the pads every month for 2.5 years straight even if they didn’t need to be changed before reaching that price delta. So if the brake pad issue truly is that “one thing” holding you back there’s the math dude, get the bike.

So did the ridstar q20, it launched in 2022. The main differences between them is ridstar is slightly cheaper, has a larger motor (1000w vs m20 750w), a 48v 20ah battery base vs the m20 48v 13ah base and hydraulic brakes vs mechanical on the m20. You can say it’s a “copy” but it’s cheaper with better specs. Even the q20 pro is cheaper with a 52v 40ah battery set and 2 1000w motors.

I’m not sure what you mean? There’s two buttons you can use to adjust the PAS to be between 1 and 5, setting 5 puts it as full speed. As far as settings adjustments you hold the M button down until the screen changes and one of the settings you switch to say 100, the other two you adjust to show the same number as your battery output so one should say 20 and the other should say 48.

There are probably better options out there for you than the Ridstar if you're going to be limited to Class 1 (pedal assist only). Moped-style ebikes aren't really set up to be pedaled like a normal bike, you CAN in a pinch or to conserve battery, but it's not ideal. Look for something with a more conventional bicycle frame/seat setup if you're limited to Class 1.
