I've been using those yellow handle Solder Seal/Douglas slip joint pliers since I was a 1st year apprentice in 1972, and still using them today. The best ones out there.

Same here only since 1962, a long long time ago, retired now and the pliers.

Thats the first time I seen a filter installed outdoors. In Jersey they are all indoors. Sometimes as soon as the pipes come inside or right near the unit.

Hey Steve, when my Boiler man came for my annual maintenance and cleaning, he replaced my Delavan 1.00 gph 60 degree A nozzle with a 1.00 gph 60 degree W nozzle. He said he didn’t have another A on the truck....what’s the difference between an A nozzle and a W nozzle?
@croyal42405 жыл бұрын
A nozzle is hollow spray and W is Semi hollow or semi solid spray B nozzle is solid spray

Looks like they are burning dyed kerosene. I moved my filter inside beside the boiler after we had a extremely cold spell and it choked off and I woke up about to freeze.

@@throttlebottle5906 exactly right. I liked the duplex fitting top feed from the tank duel line. Never had any problems with those. Don't know why you never see those in videos from New England.

Why did you change to a different nozzle? Was the wrong size installed by the original contractor? I haven't seen any oil fired furnaces or boilers since I left Ohio many years ago.

Wondering the same thing, does it make any difference?

Steve said the wrong one was installed and he put the correct nozzle in
@erikj.20665 жыл бұрын
Far as I know, Riello typically recommends a 45 or 60 degree nozzle. The 70 degree nozzle was probably installed by some clown who normally just works on Becketts. Yes, it does make a difference. Air tube, and retention head are designed for a certain angle spray pattern.

It also depends a lot on the size and shape of the combustion chamber, you don't want any impingement on the sides or the target wall.
@Gregking755 жыл бұрын
In the UK if you swap nozzles you must correct air flow for correct mixture. How do you check this in the US
@johnkrim83775 жыл бұрын
You check it by doing a combustion analysis and making the needed adjustments!

If you changed the nozzle size, why didn't you adjust the air inlet appropriately. Why no combustion test, particularly on a first time job? It's your Planet for all our children, so why not be sure that the burner is running as perfect as can be? Bob in VT

Great job Steve but I think that utility door has to have some kind of violation with the fire department. Peace brother and Molly

I'm confused. If the filter looked brand new why not just put it back?

Someone else's work...Filters are cheap. If Steve gets a call back you want to be sure of what you have. Filter is already opened and now there is air in the line most of the cost here is labor. Filters are a few dollars.

They shouldn't be outside, the only reason this one won't gel up is because there burning kerosene. But if there's any moisture in the tank it'll freeze up and plug.

Scammers calling Steven while he's working, he doesn't have time for that Mama. It's happened to me. In Pennsylvania, the space where the burner is located is a violation according to the gas company, oil companies, obviously servicemen, and especially the fire department. Not enough ventilation and poor air return, that door shouldn't even be attached, and I'm really surprised with the confined space that there is no soot in the exhaust. Steven once again reminding us to get our heating systems inspected and serviced yearly on a regular basis for the upcoming winter. As another reminder, be sure to get your fireplaces inspected as well, just a reminder from him to prevent carbon monoxide and fires.

Agreed. You should also never "press 2" or have any other sort of interaction (don't even talk) that may cause you to become liable for some form of scam approval. I can guarantee there is no "do not call" list for this scammer. Just hang up on all of them.
