What thickness of steel do you use for this mate?

Ive been doing repair with 1.6mm thick steel but i feel it doesnt shape as well as i want it too at times

Of course Ash uses paper when the rest of us use cereal boxes, plus we all have copper bars to use as backings to weld against when our gaps are a smidge big. What wire size is Ash running?
