One of the guys actually discussing the music itself and not just "reacting" or telling us "that sounds cool" or something generic. Gigachad.

100% prefer this over the reaction format. But I guess the problem is, that a react-video is zero-effort, whereas with this the creator has to put in some thought and work beforehand. Hope this channel get's more views in the future (:

7:26 Dude I've be discussing this many times with some friends. There's a tremendous gap between how Cannibal Corpse's music is perceived VS how complex and technical their music actually is.

Pretty interesting. Not sure if you take requests but I’d be really interested in a video about some Suffocation stuff, especially from Pierced from Within or Breeding the Spawn. I’ve been transcribing some of those songs and there’s some weird rhythmic things going on for sure.

The new Vildhjarta single is worth a look, it's doing a really cool thing where it slowly reveals bits and pieces of a motif until it all finally comes together in one go and it's fascinatingly interesting to listen to

This rhythm is waaaaay easier for my brain to digest if you just listen to less clicks than it says in the tab. In the first bar of the pattern, just think of it as 2 beats. So the chugs are 8th note triplets, i.e 3 notes per beat. Then for the second part, it's just 1 beat divided into 32nd notes, i.e, 8 even notes per click. ezpz

Seriously, it's amazing how every single video on this channel manages to highlight a cool theory concept that can be spun into dozens of new songs. It's great for inspiration but horrible for option paralysis (the condition not the album, would love some more DEP analysis).

Looking at their current lineup, there is no wonder it slaps so much. This one is credited to Alex Webster, no wonder :D. I also, somehow, like Cannibal Corpse with Erik Rutan in much more.

If you notate the song in 4/4 and 2/4 in tuplets, the B section just becomes sixteenth notes

In this particular instance, I would have chosen the same concept (tuplets) but written them as two fully separated 4:3 tuplets. I think that is a much easier way of quickly calculating the note lengths in your head when reading them, and I also usually prefer to have the lowest possible denominators for a tuplet (4:3 is half of 8:6). Sheet Happens did a good job on this one, but there are multiple occurances of not-up-to-par notations in many of their other books (Symphony X and Circa Survive comes to mind). Not in terms of mathematical accuracy, but rather in terms of time signatures and most importantly beaming, especially in odd time signatures. They also have a habit of often writing 6-tuplets as two separated triplets, which I certainly don't agree with notation-wise.

Very neat. There are some interesting tempo changes and melodies/harmonies in Morbid Angel. It would be cool to hear your take.

as another parallel example of a 'dotted eighth note that feels like a tuplet' zone, the very end of Gordian Naught off the newest AAL uses the same tech! there's the dotted eighth riff which is essentially playing a 4:3 polyrhythm and at 4:22 in that song Garstka removes the quarter note and plays some dotted sixteenths which gives the impression of a new tempo because of that surprising ternary->binary transition direction.
