I've been watching to many video's tonite. Back in the late 80's we tried to move a service rig west of Edson on a road that was winter access. Pine muskeg. We spent 3 days watching a trackhoe take a scoop of gravel and go down the goat trail, and dump it on cloth matting. First run in with an Artic commander I spotted the skid unit, fired up the light plant. Made a pot of coffee and waited for the next load. It didn't come. Heard a quad coming. It was Pudge the derrick hand coming to get me. Artic commander broke through lease road. Some good memories and a lot of bad

I was just having fun. Much respect to those hands. I drive a flop and roll so I hate to see truck drivers that need help.

Question..is the mobile trailers in the back for onsite housing? Thanks
@kwbushtrucker3 ай бұрын
Usually you’ll have the water haulers shack on wheels where he lives. Then you’ll have the consultants/engineers shack then the Rig Push shack then a geologists shack. But now you’ll find more shacks for other people or poor man’s camps for sleeping.

So this is mining? Oil field? How you get into this kind of work? Sounds alright to me, out in the middle of nowhere, big trucks to play with. I imagine there must be some kind of drawbacks though?
@rickb48065 жыл бұрын
Christ. You cant see the drilling rig there? And they dont hire people to play there.

@@rickb4806 Right! I watched 3 newfies get overwhelmed and quit on the first day straight west of Lodgepole. They decided they were going to walk to Lodgepole and call a cab at the hotel. About a kilometer into they're walk they seen a bear and ran back to the lease. Then they tried getting a ride after sitting there all day watching us while we worked.

this is the oil patch, its not hard, but like the saying goes if it was easy everyone would be doing it. On average your lucky if 1 out of 5 greenhorns make it past two weeks society has pussyfied todays kids and they cant handle physical labor.. watch the movie Fubar II (probably find it on itunes) after you watch that and you think you can handle the Mac pack your bags and head up here lol

So why was it so muddy and Why not lay down and pack some gravel or sand
@rickb48065 жыл бұрын
You don't notice that the forest area has been cleared? No trees=water saturates eartg. Saturated earth = mud. Laying a layer of gravel wpild do nothing. The mud would pump thru. Also if you did that that you would have to lay down geotrextile fabric, which is cost prohibitive. Now the drilling companies place a wood mat down for the rig to stand on. That might be a section of that in the background. This is why you hire engineers and not Clem from down the road.
