Why all the haters. I did service rigs from '85-'02. Yes it looks a little sketchy because I've seen a few bumpers ripped of bed trucks from being dragged behind Cat's in frame deep mud. I was trying to figure out if it was Ted Arthur Trucking or Artie Kose. Then I read through the comments, nobody was chewing on lead pencils, the guy running across the deck didn't have scissors. No one was watching the t.v. to closely. Tried to see how the rigging was set up. You have to admit cool video. No one wants to sea a video about how your office divider wall almost fell over into your cubicle. Also please leave out pinched fingers replacing water bottle in water cooler.

Your absolutely right. The problem is you need two pole trucks for that to work, and the other truck was delayed a couple hours. So, instead of waiting we did it the old way, it was the first time I've seen it done like that.

I’ve seen it done that way every time back in the day both with one or two poll trucks and its still cool to see

A lot of guys did it this way.. I watched KAPS trucking a lot. KOS had some excellent Picker operators.

With the size of bed trucks these days, this method puts alot of weight on the pole truck holding it up. Keeping the drawworks near the back, as we did, helped with this problem. The typical method is surely less hazardous, but i don't see a problem with using this as an alternative when necessary.

Hell yeah, that's a first for me, n I've seen a lot of fun shit in 15 years in industry. That looks like a good day to be moving rigs

Yes, that's the way we did it in the 1960'/70's. I paid my way through first year of Engineering at U of S ( Regina) driving and swamping on an HD22/70 Hayes. At the time they were one of the biggest, ugliest truck in Saskatchewan. It was just barely legal weight on the front axel when empty. Luckily we didn't run into many weigh stations so got away with it. Hard work but satisfying.

I love the swamper running across the frozen steel bed and hopping in the cab!

It's been since the 80's since I've worked in the patch, but I remember taking the drawworks on/off by hooking the #2 winch line to the front of the load ( thru the bed) and the #1 winch to the load line.Sucking on the #2 and dogging out the #1 would have pulled this load on the sub or vice versa to take it off. Of course that was ( in the old days)!!

hmm only been on a hand full of smaller rigs, always thought I had a rough idea what a pole truck was used for. guess I was wrong about the pole trucks. is it normal to take the draw works of the rig b4 moving? guess it must be on a double or triple hu?

That swamper on the gin truck bed while lifting the bed truck to load the drawworks is not a good place . That #2 line snaps(or winch fail), everything comes down, and that cable is coming back to cab/tractor faster than .....😔

Wow I've been moving. Rigs for more than 40 years did this same thing many many times but that's not allowed any more Swamper running around out there on the bed ... Frozen deck no fall protection ... To me just raises a whole bunch of red flags right from the get go they just don't want it done like this any more .... And to put it on a vidieo I don't think Atk or kos would want it either for safety standards . There gone now . But like I said tru the 70s the 80's the 90' s we did it like this but now days most every where wouldn't allow it maybe this is a old video . Made me kind of laugh to see this posted . Lol but it's the only way we usted to do it . Now they want two pole trucks at the other end of the sub letting it down it's been that way for along time now .
