I bought an American 16 earlier this month and (like you) found no helpful manuals or information about rigging, etc. This video is invaluable! Many thanks to you and Gordon for sharing your wisdom. I've documented the steps/instructions and plan to refine them as I practice rigging her up this weekend. The only part I am not clear about is the spreaders for the shrouds... I wish I could see how they are affixed to the mast... and it looks like there are boots on the shrouds (my boat did not come with any, so I am going to fabricate--or MacGyver--some out of wood). If folks are interested in getting a copy of the rigging instructions that I document from this video, I'm happy to share them in the same spirit that this video was shared. Folks can message me here... but I will probably add a link to a public google doc once it is ready. Thanks again--hope you continue to enjoy sailing!

Just curious what sail number is you’re boat? I sold one in southern maine a couple years ago and not sure where it ended up.

i thought that goose neck would have gone in under cleat,and not above it, with the main keeping it in place

Yeah, the sails are not in racing condition. On the other hand, I have a 54 year old boat with 54 year old sails. Wanna trade?
