Thanks for the video. Super helpful. Also, props on the Gold Block tin, it's been a few years since I saw one of those 😊👍🏻

First time I see a video where the riggings are done with the sails already glued on. Brave man.

Hi and I’m not sure any courage was involved. I actually find it easier to work the rigging around the sails, rather than the other way around. At the end of the day I hope the video shows what works for me and if it helps others to copy my technique then great.

@@JJsWargames brave or not, you sure take the riggings to another level.

it seems common sense to fix the main sails in place first,then start with the rigging twine. i found this well presented and comprehensive for my wooden top head. Thank you so much this will, as i watch again and again help me so much. Great hobby style job. BB

Thanks Phil, yes there were a few interesting moments making sure that I had the model where it needed to be and to do the job at the same time.

Been doing reasherch to get my rigging right and this tutorial is fantastic help! But where did you get your I formation to make the rigging accurate, I'm struggling as there so many places saying it's this way or that way

Hi, my rigging plan is based on Rod Langton’s work with his 1:1200th range and it was him who helped me to get started, so I’m just passing this stuff on for others. Rod Langton has a very handy book he produced for rigging and painting his own models which you can get from his website, and there is a pdf to go with my video available on my blog, link in the right hand column under ‘My Resources and Downloads’, ‘Rigging Tutorial’ which might help as well. I’ve noticed that when I’m building my ships after painting them I tend to loose some of the paint on the ship from fiddling and turning the ship about, do you varnish the ship at any point to save the paint job before rigging your ships?
@JJsWargames2 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed, I always varnish to lock down my paint work and to better marry the final paint job together. I also add a little varnish at the end to take away any shine created by the superglue on rigging anchor points and on the spritsails. I tend to use Vallejo Matt varnish 50:50 with water that seems to work quite well. Hope that helps JJ
