The Dash Poem I read of a man who stood to speak At the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstone From the beginning to the end. He noted that first came the date of her birth And spoke of the following date with tears, But he said what mattered most of all Was the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the time That she spent alive on earth And now only those who loved her Know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own, The cars, the house, the cash, What matters is how we live and love And how we spend our dash. So think about this long and hard; Are there things you’d like to change? For you never know how much time is left That can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough To consider what’s true and real And always try to understand The way other people feel. And be less quick to anger And show appreciation more And love the people in our lives Like we’ve never loved before. If we treat each other with respect And more often wear a smile, Remembering that this special dash Might only last a little while. So when your eulogy is being read With your life’s actions to rehash Would you be proud of the things they say About how you spent your dash? ~Linda Ellis~

I do not agree with this preaching. Even if all were truth everything is unnecessary, and even if there were joyful eternity I am not interested in it if the price for it is a single slaughter of an innocent cat. I have no problem with not existing but I have problem with eternal hell because it is unimaginable monstrous.

The issue lies with us, our hearts and the sins we commit taint what is good. We've taken a loan on serving ourself, and now we cant pay for it. He offers to pay for it if we accept Him
@bigcirkus306Ай бұрын
@@NezzyTTV That is meaningless. "The Boss" can simply forgive everything. He does not need anything, especially not offers.
@NezzyTTVАй бұрын
@@bigcirkus306 No "the Boss" wont just forgive everything, the issue lies in the heart, as it said, if anyone abides in Christ he will produce fruit of the spirit and is a new creature, the old is passing away, and any branch not producing fruit will be cut down and burned. You dont get a free pass to sin whenever you want as Paul teaches, the repentant sinner is warned that he wont always find a place for repentance like Esau. Each time we sin we push God away, and whether He comes back or not isnt up to us, but His sovereign decision to grant repentance, and thats why we must seek it and not abuse it, our book may be closed at any moment
@bigcirkus306Ай бұрын
@@NezzyTTV I know that He will not forgive everything. There is not much that He forgives both in the Bible and otherwise. He showed no mercy for Egyptian babies, for numerous tribes, for animals and everything that lives many times. He showed no mercy for his own son, and so on. And taht theory, so complicated..."the issue lies in the heart" ,"fruit of the spirit", "branch that produces fruit", "his sovereign decision to grant repentence" ...what does that mean? I have several cats that can no language and we communicate perfectly.
@NezzyTTVАй бұрын
@@bigcirkus306 The theory of it being on the heart isnt as much a theory as its what the scriptures say, specifically what Paul says when he writes "If anyone be in Christ he is a new creature" and when Jesus said, "If you love me you will keep my commandments". And so the evidence that someone is saved or at least being worked on is that they are new in how their relationship is with His commandments, and they produce fruit of the spirit. And so with these verses off of what I can at least remember by themselves, they seem to point to only a work of God in someone to change them in this way, and in Phillipians Paul writes: "Being confident of this very thing, that He who hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the Day of Jesus Christ." Seems to say that if anyone has had an actual work of God in them that He will finish it, but when it comes to someone abusing that grace it would seem that they never truly had Gods work, but a temporary one in themselves
