Right now Marty’s garden is flooded. Thank God we designed this place with raised beds to beat the flooding.
The rain is not over yet, more is predicted to come!

Maybe you could work something out with the neighbour to get drainage out to the street from that retaining wall? The council or housing should have been onto that after 2022 floods. I hope it drains quickly for you Marty

It's very low land, not much I can do other than improve drainage onsite

I am glad you had those raised beds Marty. Maybe you could put gravel mounds in those areas that are the worst then put some raised beds on them. Good luck and I hope you dont get more rain. Cheryl

Yer, been doing that from day one to see how it goes over time. It might even be great for just sprouting fresh food for them. Once the rain stops I will throw some compost on top as well and start sprouting their food also on top of the bales. Be a very interesting trial.

Yikes! Glad it wasn't any worse for you. Part of my chick yard used to flood during heavy rains. After constantly throwing the shredded straw in there, the ground got built up to the point that it didn't flood anymore and the water went off in other directions.

That's the plan also in our coop to build it up over time as with the rest of the block,,maybe even a swale to direct water

For sure, it was compacted clay then. It happens more than I like so I need to keep building the soil and possibly a swale to direct water as well.

Sorry for the flood my friend. Here in southern Oregon we are extremely hot and very dry during one of our five seasons. Fire season. Fires all around us. Not sure which is worse flood are fire. Spring is around the corner for u. Take care and stay dry.

vetiver grass about 60cm from the neighbours fence might hold back some of that water … and provide mulch and fodder…

Up here in the lower Whitsundays, our rain started Saturday afternoon. This morning I came outside to look around and my black gorilla cart is full to the top and overflowing. Unfortunately we’ve all got more to come🍺🍺
