Absolutely true, and bare-shaft rotation can be determined up close, at 4 to 5 feet between the tip of arrow to target at full draw. And it is true they have a natural rotation depending upon the direction of string twist. Most string maker's machines will spin the string in a direction causing a CCW rotation to a shot arrow. Shooting arrows with right offset or right helical vanes will make a change in rotation from CCW to CW when in flight. But it does so after spinning CCW until the right-oriented vanes stop the CCW rotation and the CW rotation takes over. This does or will occur, to arrows with right offset or helical vanes, when shoot-through and drop-away rests are used (no vane contact). However, shooting through a "Whisker Biscuit" or "Whisker" style rest, like an Octane Pro IMS, will impart a CW rotation to the arrow as it leaves the bow. A bare-shaft arrow, I shot through a Whisker Biscuit style - Octane rest at 4 to 5 feet, rotated 60° CCW to 10 o'clock. And the arrow with right-offset vanes, I shot, rotated 105° CW to a point in between 3 and 4 o'clock. So...in my test; vanes which clear a rest will pause and make a change in direction; probably at about or between 10 and 20 yards. But a rest in which the right-offset vane passing through whiskers will determine its rotation; causes the arrow to leave the bow in a CW rotation.

A GREAT video Anna!!! I had never heard of this before but evidently Levi Morgan believes in it so it maybe worth a try. Surely can't hurt anything!! THANK YOU for sharing. YOU ROCK!!! 🤘😁🏹💜

She's absolutely right about shooting up close. I tried at about 10 feet my first time and had too much rotation to tell, had to shoot at about 5 feet.

The rotation of your arrow is caused by the string. Most bow String companies Build Strings clock wise. If they twisted it up counter clockwise then your arrow would rotate to the right.

100% Correct!! It was just proven without a doubt by Exodus with high speed cameras and about 40 hours plus of work!

My PSE shoots broadheads better with left helical but my Bowtech likes right helical so it might be a bow too bow thing.Not much difference with field points.

That is really interesting!! Thanks for sharing the info!! It definitely could be!

Most of the time in my experience 9 times outta 10 my arrows & Friends and family arrows that I've set up using this exact method, Because it's the quickest And most efficient way to figure out what way your arrows naturally want to spin And they also spin twice as fast as a right helical. There's a channel with a guy who really breaks all of this down with BH's without broadheads, bare shaft right helical left helical right bevel broadheads with left helical fletchings Left bevel broadheads with left Helical fletchings All in super slow motion

Anna, I wonder if you have had arrows turn left and right for you? I’m just wondering is it a case of northern and Southern Hemisphere magnetic field at play? Similar to how water turns when it goes down a drain it goes one way in the northern and the opposite in the Southern Hemisphere.

I honestly could not tell you. I have not looked at my arrow spin very much. I just learned about fletching right and left helicals myself. This is an excellent question. I have not heard of that happening with arrows? But perhaps?

its determined by which direction your string is twisted.

Using left or right Helical won't change your point of impact, Especially if your using a fall away rest. I've never heard of a natural spin? The vanes and feathers work like the rifling in a gun barrel, without them there is no spin.

Well my favorite bow hunter Levi Morgan thinks it makes a difference too, so I'm changing to left offset to follow my bows natural spin. Just saying.
@treeguy59164 жыл бұрын
With all due respect, wrong! The arrow will naturally spin. If the fletching is the opposite, it will wobble. The longer the shot the more the variance.

Yep 2 degree left offset made my groups better, especially at 60 yards. Just sayin
@peterxyz3541 Жыл бұрын
I solved my problem by shooting without fletch 😂😂😂. Seriously, I done walk back bare shaft to find the natural spin, future arrows will be left spin
