I live in a humid subtropical climate in the center of the United States. Although the summers are hot and humid, we do have pretty cold winters here. For this reason, we treat the crossandra plant as an annual, or bring it inside for several months during the coldest part of the year. I love to have crossandra in a large pot on my front patio. The orange flowers are beautiful!

Thank you very much for sharing your experiences..yes, I am aware about the situations over there. Here it completely opposite though..we need to protect them in Summer from too much direct and intense sunlight..And agree with you, they are really very beautiful and doesn't need lots of maintenance (specially fertilizers) TC :-)

Thank you for your very in depth instructions. I’ve had mine for almost a calendar year but it’s never rebloomed! It was FULL of flowers when I bought it, but never since. It does produce those dry looking buds, but the never produce blooms. In spring & summer it’s on the east facing patio, then when it gets cooler, I bring everything indoors to west facing windows. Any help will be greatly appreciated! The leaves are pretty and glossy but that’s all! Thanks! Your child is adorable.

Good informative video. I happen to see in most of your videos, all the plants are in perfect round shape. How are you cutting the plants in that shape.. is there any technique.. pls respond my comment
@GardeningUpbeat11 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for your words, appreciated! I usually prune that way...means, make the middle branches somewhat longer than the side branches. Also, for uniform growth on each sides, I keep rotating the pot (this is the most important thing than even pruning and this is why, in nature big trees grows usually in round shape). At any time if I see any lower branches getting much longer, I prune it. Hope you got what I am trying to say....Did same thing with one of my Rubber plant and result is almost ready. Would upload the video very soon. Thank you once again!

Hi, you are doing really very good job. I am following you now onwards. Hey, is it ok to use both bone meal and dap fertilizer at a time???
@GardeningUpbeat3 жыл бұрын
@venky s v, I am so glad to know and thank you So much for the encouraging words, much appreciated :-) No, please don't use both. If you use DAP, no need to use Bone meal again. Bone meal provides Phosphorus to the plants and DAP already have it. With Bone meal, you can use Mustard cake powder and that way, it would be all organic fertilizer, thank you :-)

@GardeningUpbeat3 жыл бұрын
@kakali biswas, For Crown of Thorns, I uploaded a video recently and please find here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4W7cpStfbJ6gpY But, I have to agree...not all varieties blooms well during the Monsoon or in extreme hot weather..Many varieties bloom well in Spring and they would start again from Sep-October. But still, you can try applying Flower Booster fertilizer from Trustbasket if you like. Dose - 4 grams in 1 liter water [1 teaspoon = 5 grams] Thank you :-)

@GardeningUpbeat2 жыл бұрын
You can do if you like..but it's better to avoid doing it as it's the flowering season and they bloom on new growth. But, if you prune them, they would focus on growing more new shoots and as a result, there would be more flowers. Again but...please note that, they don't bloom in Winter..

Sir this plant of mine always has powdery mildew, I use neem oil and all organic things but they do not go away, what I can do to help the plant to grow healthy without mildew
@GardeningUpbeat9 ай бұрын
That's correct..Powdery Mildew is too commonly found on this plant..You would need to use Fungicide, not Neem oil. You can try using SAAF (Dose - 2 grams in 1 liter water, 1 teaspoon = 5ml) It's chemical but if you want to use Organic, please do so. There are many available online but I generally use SAAF. If possible, maintain a good airflow surrounding the plant. In compact place, we can always find Powdery Mildew, specially on this plant. Good luck and Sir is not required :-)
